Five Coins[1] are a larger type of coin appearing mostly in the Mario & Luigi series. Most depictions of them have a "5" to denote their value of being five coins.

History[edit]

Mario & Luigi series[edit]

Five Coins are mostly commonly concealed within blocks in the Mario & Luigi series. In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Five Coins can occasionally be found scattered around outside blocks.

Super Princess Peach[edit]

Large coins are one of the coin types in Super Princess Peach, though they appear uncommonly in levels. When a Courage Soda is in effect, every enemy whacked by Perry drops one of these large coins, though the value is increased by 2.5 for every two enemies whacked in rapid succession.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem![edit]

Five Coins, referred to as large coins,[2] appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, though their comparability to coins is measured by points; since 100 points is the equivalent of a coin, large coins are worth 500 points.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]

Five Coins are enemy spoils or rewarded for completing a level in Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

Monopoly: Super Mario Celebration![edit]

Five Coins are one of the currencies in Monopoly: Super Mario Celebration! used to purchase items or fees, having their usual value of five normal coins.

Jenga: Super Mario Edition[edit]

Five Coins do not affect the rules of Jenga: Super Mario Edition, but are an optional for visually representing the player's collection of coins.

Princess Peach: Showtime![edit]

Five Coins return in Princess Peach: Showtime!, uniquely designed as medium-sized coins with two Sparkle Gems engraved on them. They are obtained when Peach poses in some spotlights or as a reward for performing well in challenges like baking cookies and figure skating.
