The Wombats Premieres New Song “Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want To Come” on BBC Radio 1
British alt-pop band The Wombats, consisting of Matthew Murphy (vocals/guitar), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass), and Dan Haggis (drums), is back.
The band premiered a new song “Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want To Come” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is their first music in two years since the 2022 album “Fix Yourself, Not the World”.
The track was written by Jorgen Odegard and Matthew Murphy, Produced by John Congleton.
The band frontman Matthew Murphy told Jack Saunders about the song, “This song is about pranging out in social situations. This one is kind of a bit of a special one that came out of nowhere. I remember having that kind of lyric and trying to fit it into several things. And it didn't really find a home, and then suddenly it did. I like a lengthy title.”- The band shared on social media,“A very interesting music video to with it... so go and feast your eyes on that we've had a lot of fun with this one.”
The song will appear on their upcoming sixth studio album, which doesn't have a set release date yet.
Matthew Murphy said, ”I think it did help on this album. I mean we kind of got together in Australia and in London and in Liverpool, and the guys came to LA. And then we took some time off and then recorded everything in LA.” - source : BBC Radio 1
