Low Tide is a song.

Description

Low Tide is rendition of the melody of Tide Goes Out performed with a koto and other traditional Japanese instruments, played over Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme with the same march-like rhythms and a prominent wooded drum beat. It is heard in Splatoon 2 during the introduction cutscene when the player first enters Octo Canyon and meets Marie, in a similar fashion to Cap'n Cuttlefish's Theme from Splatoon. It can also be heard in Squid Beatz 2 with a maximum score of 55 and 93 in Normal and Hard modes, respectively.

Etymology

Low Tide is another way of referring to a tide that has "gone out", referencing the song it remixes, Marie's signature solo song Tide Goes Out. It could potentially refer to the low mood Marie is feeling with the absence of Callie, fitting with the slow style of the song. The song's title also references Marie's "low-tide ink" that she utilizes during Splatoon 2's final boss fight.[a]
