Family and genealogical research
For questions of genealogical research in Austria, you can use the service of the Austrian State Archives - in addition to numerous private companies and institutes. In the same way, you can also turn for genealogical research for the time before 1938 to the religious communities and their baptismal, marriage and death registers. Thanks to the digitalisation of the so-called Matriken, it is now possible to conduct online research in the archives of almost all dioceses in Austria from the comfort of one's own home. Further general information on the subject of "genealogical research" can be found, among other places, on the website of the Austrian Society for Research on Genealogy and Regional Heritage.
