- April 26 — The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster occurs.
- In November, Marvel Comics celebrates its 25th Anniversary. In celebration of this event, Issue #22 of the US Transformers comic (first available in June) features a special cover; a portrait shot of Menasor bordered by many of the company's classic superhero characters.
- The Japanese video game developer NOW Production is founded.

- July 1 — Shrapnel, Bombshell, and Kickback arrive on Earth over the space bridge. Sometime over the next three days Megatron has their bodies adapted into Earth insects for disguise. Aerialbots over America!
- July 4 — Thrust, Dirge, and Ramjet arrive on Earth over the space bridge. The Decepticons attempt to drill through Hoover Dam in order to divert the water over the space bridge where it would turn turbines on Cybertron. The plot was foiled by Ricky Vasquez and the Aerialbots. Aerialbots over America!
- Upon materialization in the distant past of 1986, Cyclonus and Scourge decide to destroy a Wyoming service station and passing locomotive in a random act of anti-social behavior. Target: 2006

Story of Binaltech
At some point in time after 1985, but before 2005, Ravage is captured by the EDC and kept as a prisoner. He is then kept stasis locked in cassette mode inserted in his future/past self's tape deck, in order to provide his body with a "Life Essence Nucleus", as part of the III's "X-9 Revival Plan". The Ravage of the present remains unaware of his time-tossed doppelganger. Ghosts of the Past
