Released in the second year of Hasbro's The Transformers toyline (first year in European markets), Long Haul is a redeco of the Takara Diaclone "Construction Vehicle Robot No. 5 Dump Truck", transforming into a bright green Hitachi DH321 mining dump truck. The dumping tray is articulated, but due to design, the forward lip of the tray (which hangs over the cab of the truck) is not actually connected to the tray itself, and his rear wheels go up with it. Don't even mention the splitting of the bed for transformation. In contrast to the majority of truck-mode Transformers toys, he has dual rear wheels, which allows him to roll more easily. Coincidentally, the purple chimney on Long Haul's right shoulder is a hollowed-out 5 mm post, allowing it to function as an Armada-style Mini-Con port.

He also has an "Attack Truck" mode, formed by adding the "Missile Mount" and "Wing" on top of the dump bed. He can also combine with his fellow Constructicons to form Devastator, functioning as the lower torso.

There are two variations of Long Haul: The earlier version features a slot in his chest/truck grill, which was a hold-over from the first Diaclone variant which had the "super wing" chestplate connected to the dump truck, instead of the truck crane. The later version fills that slot in, leaving a very conspicous smooth patch that lacks the ridged grill pattern. This second version was used for all subsequent releases up until the Generation 2 release in 1993.

On the European continent, Long Haul was initially released individually alongside the other Constructicons by Hasbro's subsidiary Milton Bradley (MB) in 1985.^[1][2] In 1986, Long Haul and the other Constructicons were re-released in Europe, albeit this time in "Hasbro"-branded packaging (but manufactured by Joustra). The main difference with all other releases thus far was that the Constructicons' main color was now yellow instead of green.^[3][4][5] These are not to be confused with the later, non-combining yellow European Constructicons, nor with the yellow Generation 2 Constructicons (see below for both).

For the GiG Italian release of Transformers, "Macigno" and the other "Escavators" were sold in boxes very similar to the Takara packaging instead of on Hasbro-style cards. The boxes even sported the Takara ID numbers from "31" to "36", and omitted the "Hasbro" logo on the packaging in favor of a "Takara" logo.

Long Haul was also available as part of the Devastator gift set that was available in several markets, including the United States and Japan. All of the toys in this set are identical to their individual releases.

Rumors are that an MB-branded Devastator giftset was also released in continental Europe, but thus far no packaged sample has surfaced.^[2]

Another yellow European exclusive version of Long Haul, in colors very similar to the previous yellow European release, was released very late in the original toyline. The main difference was that this version, just like the other Constructicons, came with no Devastator parts. Unlike most of the Constructicons in this release set, Long Haul has no gray-plastic parts.

This toy was also not officially named, as he came on a standardized card also used by the other five Constructicons.

Generation 2

Part of the very first assortment of Generation 2 product released just in time for the 1992 holiday season, all six Constructicons were redecoed, once again in primarily yellow and purple. However, these releases have some notable differences from the prior European-market yellow versions, the most blatantly obvious being the addition of a Generation 2-style Decepticon logo and "DECEPTICON" tampograph on each (in this case, on the angled plate hanging off Long Haul's back in robot mode). The purple plastic is also brighter in tone, and there are no gray-plastic parts. Most importantly, their ability to combine into Devastator has been restored, with Long Haul's two pieces to Devastator returned to him.

A later and seemingly less common run in 1993 changed the yellow plastics to rich orange. It was long rumored that this release was a KB Toys exclusive, but that has since been debunked; KB just ended up with the lion's share of what was a simple late-run running change to the normal retail release.

Universe (2003)

• Long Haul (Micromaster, 2004)

A redeco of Treader, Long Haul transforms into an "earth mover" dump truck. He can form the leg to any similar-construction Micromaster combiner robot, but his nominal position is the right leg of Constructicon Devastator. (He can theoretically be used as an arm too, but only by using the fists that came with the Sixturbo molds... and if you don't mind an incredibly awkward, ill-positioned arm.)

A KB Toys exclusive, he and the other Micromaster Constructicons were also ultimately available from Sears during Christmastime, and Kmart's online store.

The toy's larger connector socket is approximately 5mm wide, making Long Haul compatible with Powerlinx ports.

This mold was also used to make Micromaster Long Haul.

Classics

Classics Long Haul is a green redeco of Energon Duststorm and Wideload only available as part of the Classics Constructicon Devastator giftset. His teammate Classics Hightower also uses the mold. Now a crane, Long Haul's crane arm extends out and can be fitted with a purple claw accessory.

He can also form a leg or arm to any Energon-series "Powerlinx Combiner" super robot, though his nominal placement is as the left arm of Devastator.

Encore

Long Haul was reissued in a giftset with his Constructicon teammates as part of TakaraTomy's Encore line. Apparently cast from a newly created mold, given the presence of a Tomy copyright stamp rather than the original Hasbro/Takara one, Long Haul features yet another change to the section where the very first variant of his original toy (as well as its Diaclone predecessor) had featured a slot in his chest/truck grill, which subsequent releases had filled in (thereby leaving a very conspicous smooth patch that lacks the ridged grill pattern), with the grill pattern now finally going all the way through. Additionally, he now features small tabs on the rear end of his truck bed/his feet, and the central piece on the underside of his truck mode is molded in purple, rather than black.

Long Haul was again reissued in a giftset in 2013 as part of TakaraTomy's Encore line, this time in a more 'anime accurate' color scheme. In addition to the mold changes of the 2011 version, Long Haul is also a slightly different color and features more cartoon-accurate paint applications on his face and a painted grille.

Kre-O

Being capable of being rebuilt into anything but a dump truck makes him the happiest version of the character ever.

As part of the third wave of blindpacked Micro-Changers, Long Haul is a Kreon that can be rebuilt into a dump truck, complete with working dump bed. Neat! He reuses Ironhide's helmet.

This Micro-Changer assortment was the last one to appear at Target, with later waves showing up only at Toys"R"Us or drug/discount stores.

• Long Haul (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2017)

In 2017, the Collection 3 Micro-Changers were re-released in a whole new production run, first appearing at Walgreens stores in the US. These releases use the almost-entirely-retooled 2015 Kreon (making most parts incompatible with older Kreons), with slightly-differently-hued plastics than the originals. Long Haul's tampographs are slightly altered, changing the flat light gray to metallic silver, giving him a silver Decepticon faction symbol, and adding silver under his leg tampos (simulating the original toy's stickers). And his "cab" brick lost its windshield tampo. Oh boy.

Sadly, this release has no individual-identification code on the bag, requiring you to use the feel-through-the-bag method or just buy blind and hope.

Combiner Wars

Combiner Wars Constructicon Long Haul transforms into a large dump truck and also forms Titan Class Devastator's lower body. Packaged with the other Constructicons in a massive box, Long Haul is, like his team-mates, promoted as a Voyager-class figure, though he's quite a bit more chunky than any of them. His elbows can only bend outwards, an oddity among others of his size, but in return he is the only Constructicon to feature a waist swivel (which is heavily ratcheted, as he shares it with Devastator). In vehicle mode, Long Haul features an array of slots and peg-holes in his truck bed that allow him to carry all seven weapon accessories and combiner kibble the set comes with. Darn. Talk about hard-working.

As a part of a promotion in Hasbro's Asian markets, a free sticker sheet for the Constructicons was given out when purchasing the set. As such, Long Haul was given Generation 1 toy-esque stickers for the owner to apply if they wanted.

A redeco of the above Long Haul figure also available as part of a gift set, featuring extensive paint operations and Vacuum metallized purple parts. The packaging of this set is designed to evoke both Bonecrusher's shovel and Devastator's head, and its interior is designed to resemble the title image of Devastator on his wiki page.

In the U.S., this set (also referred to as "Devastator Special Edition" in a Hasbro press release) was exclusive to the Hasbro Toy Shop website and the Hasbro Toy Shop booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. In Asia, it was also available at Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong 2015 and subsequently stocked by Toys"R"Us Hong Kong. Later, it was also available at The Falcon's Hangar booth at Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2015.

Unite Warriors

Takara's iteration of Long Haul is a redeco and retool of the Hasbro version. He features a more cartoon-accurate color scheme, his classic handgun, and functioning elbows. His truck bed also serves as weapon storage for his & his teammates' pistols for the combiner form.

Vintage G1

The original Devastator toy was once again available, this time in the Walmart exclusive Vintage G1 series. All of the toys inside were cast in a slightly yellower shade of bright green than prior releases, and were given a new style of rubsign used on all of the Vintage G1 toys; the insignia only turns red rather than the mood-ring multicolor of older rubsigns, plus the silver border is mirror-level reflective.

Each individual toy in the set has a number of smaller differences from previous versions as well. In Long Haul's case, some of his sculpted details are less sharp and deep than on his previous releases, though he retains his original head piece from the first release.

TV Magazine

One of these things is not like the other.

• Powerful Long Haul (EZ Collection, 2021)

Released as a freebie for the October–November issue for the TV Magazine, "Powerful Long Haul" is a slight redeco of the non-combining Legends Class mold of Revenge of the Fallen Long Haul. Compared to the original figure's deco, Powerful Long Haul lacks any red stripes on the shoulders, the green plastic is a slightly darker shade, and the unpainted grey plastic is a lighter shade.

Decoy

• Destron Hero Collection 22 (Decoy multi-pack, 1985)

This small purple rubber figurine of Long Haul was released in Japan as part of a large multi-pack of similar figures, which were used as playing pieces for Transformers board games. The figure features a number etched into its back which is the sum total of Long Haul's Tech Spec ratings, which served some function in the gameplay the figures were used for.

The Long Haul figurine was later brought over to Hasbro markets as part of the Decoy promotion, largely identical to the Japanese release except for the fact that the number on his back was replaced with a simple "checklist" number. Like all Decepticon Decoys, he was a randomly-chosen pack-in available with the carded Throttlebots, Stunticons, Combaticons and Terrorcons, and was, very early on in the promotion, available in an alternate red coloration that was only packed in with the Throttlebots. Naturally, this red figurine is much rarer.

The Loyal Subjects Longhaul [sic] is a Wave 3 figure with standard articulation. He has no special features, but does come with a gun. His design is based on the original toy, not the G1 animation model.

Transformers Trading Card Game

Longhaul, Transport was released as part of the Transformers Trading Card Game Devastator Deck box set, which includes character cards for all six Constructicons, a ready-to-play battle deck, and a unique Tower card. Like the other members of combiner teams released as part of the Trading Card Game's Wave 2: Rise of the Combiners, as well as the other Constructicons included with the Devastator Deck, Longhaul, Transport is a folding card, with the Bot and Alt modes being depicted when the card is folded in half, and a holofoil portion of the the combined mode depicted when unfolded. The reverse of Longhaul, Transport depicts the middle right portion of Devastator.

The artwork for Bot and Alt Mode is reused from the Transformers Legends mobile game.

Longhaul, Transport can be used to form Devastator, Towering Warrior with the use of the Action card Constructicon Enigma while he and the other Devastator Deck Constructicons are in Bot mode on the battlefield or KO area.

Blokees

Galaxy Version

Released in the Second Wave of the Galaxy Version line of blind boxes, Blokees Long Haul is a four-inch tall, articulated, and non-transforming snap-on model kit of the Constructicon Dump Truck. Like many other Blokee figures, Long Haul uses a "Standard Body" as a skeleton, in which pieces are then attached to make them look like different characters.

After removing either one of his fists, you can attach a blaster to that port via a small ball joint. Like many other Blokees figures, Long Haul comes with a stand, where you can attach him via four different studs.

Exclusive Yearly Version
