     Mary Oliphant was born on 6 August 1701. She was the daughter of George Oliphant and unknown Young.1 She married James Lyon, 7th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, son of John Lyon, 4th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Stanhope, on 6 March 1731.1 She died on 7 September 1731 at age 30.1
     From 6 March 1731, her married name became Lyon. After her marriage, Mary Oliphant was styled as Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne on 6 March 1731.

     Philip Stanhope, 2nd Earl of Chesterfield was born circa 1634.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Stanhope, Lord Stanhope and Catherine Wotton, Countess of Chesterfield.1 He married, firstly, Lady Anne Percy, daughter of Algernon Percy, 4th Earl of Northumberland and Lady Anne Cecil, on 21 June 1652.1 He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Butler, daughter of James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde and Elizabeth Preston, Baroness Dingwall, before 25 September 1660.3 He married, thirdly, Lady Elizabeth Dormer, daughter of Charles Dormer, 2nd Earl of Carnarvon and Elizabeth Capell, after 1665.3 He died on 28 January 1713/14 at Bloomsbury Square, London, EnglandG.3 He was buried on 12 February 1713/14 at Shelford, Nottinghamshire, EnglandG.3 His will was proven (by probate) on 21 January 1714/15.3
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Stanhope of Shelford, co. Nottingham [E., 1616] on 12 September 1656.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Chesterfield, co. Derby [E., 1628] on 12 September 1656.1 He held the office of Lord Chamberlain to the Queen Consort between 1662 and 1665.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1667 in the Regiment of Foot.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 15 July 1669.1 He held the office of Chief Justice in Eyre, South of Trent between December 1679 and December 1685.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) from 26 January 1680/81 to February 1688/89.1 He was Colonel of the 3rd Foot between 1682 and 1684.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 30 November 1708.1 His last will was dated 17 December 1713.

     Lady Elizabeth Butler was born on 29 June 1640 at Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.1 She was the daughter of James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormonde and Elizabeth Preston, Baroness Dingwall.1 She married Philip Stanhope, 2nd Earl of Chesterfield, son of Sir Henry Stanhope, Lord Stanhope and Catherine Wotton, Countess of Chesterfield, before 25 September 1660.1 She died in July 1665 at age 25 at Buxton, Northamptonshire, EnglandG, without surviving male issue.1,3 She was buried on 18 July 1665 at Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, EnglandG.3
     Her married name became Stanhope. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Butler was styled as Countess of Chesterfield.

     Patrick Lyon, 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne was born on 29 May 1643.1 He was the son of John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Maule.1 He married Lady Helen Middleton, daughter of John Middleton, 1st Earl of Middleton and Grizel Durham, on 23 August 1662.1 He died on 15 May 1695 at age 51 at Castle Lyon, ScotlandG.1
     He succeeded as the 11th Lord Glamis [S., 1445] on 12 May 1646.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne [S., 1677] on 12 May 1646.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Lyon and Glamis [S., 1606] on 12 May 1646.1 He held the office of Burgess of Dundee in 1660.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1672 and 1680 in the King's Life Guard of Honour.1 On 30 May 1672 he got a regrant of the 1606 creation with a limitation to him and the heirs male of his body, in default of which to any person nominated by him, in default of which to his heirs male whatsoever, in default of which to his heirs and assigns whatsoever.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] between 1674 and 1689.1 On 1 July 1677 he got another charter changing his full title of 1606 to Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, Viscount Lyon, Lord Glamis, Tannandyce, Sidlaw and Stradichtie with teh original precedence.1 He held the office of Lord of Treasury in 1680.1 He was Commissioner of Exchequer in 1680.1 He held the office of Extraordinary Lord of Session between 1686 and 1689.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in March 1691/92.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Forfarshire in 1694.1

     Lady Helen Middleton was the daughter of John Middleton, 1st Earl of Middleton and Grizel Durham.2 She married Patrick Lyon, 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, son of John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Elizabeth Maule, on 23 August 1662.1 She died in May 1708.1
     After her marriage, Lady Helen Middleton was styled as Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne on 23 August 1662. From 23 August 1662, her married name became Lyon.

     John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne was born on 13 August 1596.2 He was the son of Patrick Lyon, 1st Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Anne Murray.2 He married, firstly, Lady Margaret Erskine, daughter of John Erskine, 19th/2nd Earl of Mar and Lady Mary Stuart, on 19 June 1618.2 He married, secondly, Lady Elizabeth Maule, daughter of Patrick Maule, 1st Earl of Panmure and Frances Stanhope, after 1644.1 He died on 12 May 1646 at age 49.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Kinghorne [S., 1606] on 19 December 1615.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Lyon and Glamis [S., 1606] on 19 December 1615.2 He succeeded as the 10th Lord Glamis [S., 1445] on 19 December 1615.2 He held the office of Burgess of Dundee in 1620.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)      Lady Elizabeth Maule was the daughter of Patrick Maule, 1st Earl of Panmure and Frances Stanhope.1,2 She married, firstly, John Lyon, 2nd Earl of Kinghorne, son of Patrick Lyon, 1st Earl of Kinghorne and Lady Anne Murray, after 1644.3 She married, secondly, George Livingstone, 3rd Earl of Linlithgow, son of Alexander Livingstone, 2nd Earl of Linlithgow and Lady Elizabeth Gordon, on 30 July 1650. She died in October 1659.4
     After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Maule was styled as Countess of Kinghorne after 1644. From after 1644, her married name became Lyon.3 Her married name became Livingstone.

     Patrick Maule, 1st Earl of Panmure was born on 29 May 1585.2 He was the son of Patrick Maule and Margaret Erskine.3,2 He married, thirdly, Lady Mary Erskine, daughter of John Erskine, 19th/2nd Earl of Mar and Lady Mary Stuart.4 He married, secondly, Mary Waldrum.4 He married Frances Stanhope, daughter of Sir Edward Stanhope and Susan Colshill, circa 1616.3 He died on 22 December 1661 at age 76.3
     He held the office of Gentleman of the Bechamber for King James I.5 He held the office of Sheriff of Forfarshire.5 He was created 1st Earl of Panmure [Scotland] on 3 August 1646. He was created 1st Baron Maule, of Brechin and Navar [Scotland] on 3 August 1646.
