Sir Edward Stanhope was born circa 1543.2 He was the son of Sir Michael Stanhope and Ann Rawson.3 He married Susan Colshill, daughter of Thomas Colshill.2 He died on 12 August 1603.2

James Moncreiffe, 4th of Easter Rhynd was the son of Hew Moncreiffe, 1st of Easter Rhynd and Elisabeth Dischington.1 He married, firstly, Eupheme Dundas, daughter of unknown Dundas, before 1550.2 He and Eupheme Dundas were divorced in 1550.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Tyrie of Drumkilbo after 1550.1 He died in 1587.1
In 1544 he took part with the Laird of Moncreiffe in the unsuccessful rebellion of Lennox and Glencairn against the Regent Arran.2
