Orphaned non-free media (Image:Έμβλημα Βριλησσίων.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Έμβλημα Βριλησσίων.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:18, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Macedonia and FYROM

edit

The issue of the naming of the various territories who claim the name 'Macedonia' is a longrunning one and after long discussion we have arrived at a consensus. Please do not disrupt it by copy and paste page moves and turning pages into redirects. Disruptive editing can lead to you being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Sam Blacketer 18:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You copied the text of Republic of Macedonia and created a new page called FYROM into which you pasted the copied text. That form of page move is not allowed because of issues with the GFDL license, which is why I speedily deleted it as housekeeping. The current location of pages relating to Macedonia is the result of lengthy discussion, which you can find by going to Talk:Republic of Macedonia and browsing around the archives. I'm afraid you are very unlikely to persuade the community to change this consensus, although there may be room for some changes if the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic is changed to the satisfaction of the Greek government, as some news sources have recently claimed it will be. Sam Blacketer 18:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Kalimera Dimorsitane. The way that wikipedia is treating articles is with neutrality, accuracy and realism. Whatever changes you may wish to make they must be well founded and commomly accepted by the community of editors. It is not a place to "correct" history or promote and impose national or any other vues whatsoever. The Macedonia name dispute is an issue pending resolution under the UN umbrella. When and if such resolution is materialised be certain that wikipedia will straight away adjust the information provided in the related articles to meet the new and commonly accepted reality. Till then the current references, which are aligned with wiki universal convensions, will stay in place. All the best. Italiotis 10:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

question on Talk:Republic_of_Macedonia about the name

edit
I archived your question [1]. You should go to Talk:Republic_of_Macedonia/name, and, hum, ooops, I just noticed that I already moved your comment there [2], I must have pressed the "submit" button while I was pondering if I should move it or not :( . Well, go to that page anyways and read it, and revert my addition of your comment if you didn't want me to move your comment there. Sorry for that. --Enric Naval (talk) 02:58, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Stop it, now

edit

You are edit-warring all over the place, and blatantly pushing towards your favorite national POV. Just stop it. This behaviour is not welcome here. Fut.Perf. 09:32, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What does POV stand for?--Dimorsitanos (talk) 09:32, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the jargon, we tend to take it for granted here. :-) "Point of view", as in: "opinion". See WP:NPOV ("Neutral point of view") for our stance on that. Fut.Perf. 09:36, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well historical macedonia is not a point of view. It's an historical fact.--Dimorsitanos (talk) 09:40, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

please use the edit summary field

edit

When making changes to articles, please remember to leave a short explanation of what you are doing on the field "Edit summary", right below the edit box where you type the changes.

For example, I saw this change here [3] and I had to look at it for five minutes just to realize that you were merging several infoboxes into one. Next time, please, leave at least a short note like "merging infoboxes" or "merging several infoboxes into one infobox" or "merging geographical and municipality infoboxes" so other editors can easily see what changes are being made on each edit. It's very difficult to have an idea of what is happening on an article if editors don't fill the edit summary with an explanation. --Enric Naval (talk) 00:00, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

WP:MOSMAC

edit

Please read Wikipedia's guidelines for articles related to Macedonia, WP:MOSMAC. You are definitely not obliged to like it, but you are obliged to follow it when editing. Thanks JdeJ (talk) 19:27, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Well, I read some of the conventions about: "In articles where there is a need to distinguish the aforementioned ethnic group from the other ethnic groups inhabiting Macedonia Use "Macedonian Slavs" or "Slavic Macedonians" to distinguish them from the other ethnic groups in the region" and I noticed in sections of articles referring to these groups of people as minorities in greece, there is use of "Aegean Macedonians" or "Ethnic Macedonians" or "Macedonians" contrary to the convention above. Consequently, I reedit these parts and ablate these terms with "Slavic Macedonians". In addition, I expect you to delete immediately the article "Aegean Macedonians" and all of its links until the next time I log in. --Dimorsitanos (talk) 19:38, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
"In addition, I expect you to delete immediately the article "Aegean Macedonians" and all of its links until the next time I log in." If you want to nominate the article for deletinon, follow the proper procedure. It will then be dealt with and discussed during a period of four to five days and a final verdict on whether it should be deleted or not will be given. JdeJ (talk) 19:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK, I will.--Dimorsitanos (talk) 19:55, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I notice you undid the editing about the "overall majority of countries recognise it under its constitutional name". I preserve the right to expect enough and rational references and citations to points of doubted neutrality (in the beginning of an article without further explanation of the point made, therefore I add a tag of citation needed.--Dimorsitanos (talk) 19:44, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Be my guest. You're always free to add tags after unsourced statements, and I agree that that statement would need a source so a tag is a good thing. JdeJ (talk) 19:47, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Deletion of Aegean Macedonians

edit

Hi. I've declined the speedy deletion request you posted at Aegean Macedonians, since it didn't appear to fit any of the current Criteria for speedy deletion. It looks like there's a merge discussion ongoing, so you might want to comment there. If there is a better title for this article, you might consider proposing a page move on the talk page. If you believe the article needs to be deleted, then I'd suggest reading the instructions at Articles for Deletion, which will indicate how to nominate the page for deletion. Best, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 20:54, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, Ok, thank you.--Dimorsitanos (talk) 20:56, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not familiar with the region, or with its people and culture, so I'm not the best person to give advice on the specifics of WP:MOSMAC. However, I can offer some general guidance, if you like. First, take a deep breath - you'll get much more done if you're calm and rational. We're all here to improve the project, and getting angry or defensive toward other editors will not help to achieve that. I realize that you feel strongly about this issue - rightly so - but it still helps to stay calm.
With that out of the way, my first impulse would be to participate in the merge/move discussion here. It looks like there's some consensus for a move or a merge, and that's going to be the best option at this point. The article was recently at AfD, and was Kept, so it might be disruptive to re-nominate it again. The rule of thumb I use is that, if nothing has really changed with the article or its circumstances, then a re-nomination should wait 4 months - but that the article can be re-nominated sooner if something has changed dramatically. Since the merge discussion is ongoing, I'd recommend participating there.
If WP:MOSMAC is being applied inconsistently - if you think it would work one way, but it's being used differently - then you might discuss the issue on its talk page, here. It's worth a shot, and might bring greater attention to the issue. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to tell you - but Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Best, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:48, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I add that, since the merge discussion is very specifically linked from the article's text itself, that it should get broad attention beyond what a normal talk page discussion would receive. Hope that helps, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 13:49, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Aegean Macedonians

edit

You didn't do the listing right. The page has been nominated for deletion before and kept, so the AfD process is a little different then. Since this was only two months ago, it might be considered disruptive to re-nominate it so soon (although I'm assuming good faith on your part). If you have an issue with the article, it'd be best to take it up on the talk page if you haven't already. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP!) 21:06, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, discussion on the talk page would be best; I didn't see that there had been a recent AFD nomination. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 21:17, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but who reads the talk page of an article? The parties that are interested on the subject. In this case we may need a third party to comment. --Dimorsitanos (talk) 06:02, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think I do not need to make that in layman's terms. It's rather obvious.--Dimorsitanos (talk) 04:38, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

So you're saying that I proved that I'm not civilised by giving you a warning about personal attacks. Well that's another personal attack, so that's one more warning for you. BalkanFever 05:07, 27 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's your point, not mine. And I may ask you again. Try to act civilized. Threatening is not a civilized action. Disagree? I may have to report you on this insistent threatening. --Dimorsitanos. edit

A tag has been placed on Χρήστης:Dimorsitanos/Αμμοδοχείο, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NEVER USE MACHINE TRANSLATOR in JAPANESE WIKIPEDIA

edit

Hello, since Japanese language is not as similar with English as European languages, automatic translating technology which involves Japanese language only creates bunch of gabages which is much better not to exist as an article on wikipedia. Additionally the lisences of automatic translaters do not allow commercial use in the most cases, hence using automatic translator causes copyright problem. From these reasons, we do not welcome posting creations of automatic translator. I deleted Vrilissia. Thanks.--Peccafly-talk-hist 10:33, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia 2

edit

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above.

  • All editors on Macedonia-related articles are directed to get the advice of neutral parties via means such as outside opinions and Geopolitical ethnic and religious conflicts noticeboard (WP:ECCN), especially since there are significant problems in reaching consensus.
  • All articles related to Macedonia (defined as any article that could be reasonably construed as being related to Macedonia, Macedonia nationalism, Greece related articles that mention Macedonia, and other articles in which how Macedonia will be referred to is an issue) fall under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned. Editors enforcing a case where a binding Stalemate resolution has been found are exempt from 1RR.
  • The following users have been banned from Wikipedia : Avg (talk · contribs)one year, ΚΕΚΡΩΨ (talk · contribs)one year, and Reaper7 (talk · contribs)six months .
  • The following users have been topic-banned from Macedonia-related articles and their talk pages, as defined in All related articles under 1RR: Avg (talk · contribs)indefinitely, ΚΕΚΡΩΨ (talk · contribs)indefinitely, Reaper7 (talk · contribs)one year and, SQRT5P1D2 (talk · contribs)one year.
  • The Committee takes note that ChrisO (talk · contribs) has resigned his administrator status while this case was pending, but also notes that he is desysopped as a result of the above case. ChrisO may obtain the tools back via the usual means or by request to the Arbitration Committee.
  • Future Perfect at Sunrise (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) is strongly admonished for displaying a long pattern of incivil, rude, offensive, and insulting behavior towards other editors and failure to address the community's concerns in this regard. Because of this Future Perfect at Sunrise is subject to an editing restriction for one year, and is desysopped for three months as a consequence of poor user conduct and misuse of administrative tools. After three months, his administrator access will be automatically restored.
  • Single-purpose accounts are strongly advised to edit in accordance with WP:SPA and other Wikipedia policies. Diversifying one's topics of interest is also encouraged.
  • Abuse filter 119, as currently configured, logs all changes involving the word "Macedonia" but does not block any edits. The community is strongly advised to consider adding a new abuse filter criterion; any instances of changing the word "Macedonia" to "FYROM" (the five-letter acronym, not the full phrase) shall be prevented.
  • Within seven days of the closure of this case, a discussion is to be opened to consider the preferred current and historical names for the four entities known as Macedonia. The discussion will end one month after it is opened.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
