Moved as proposed. There is consensus to move to a title supported by reliable sources. bd2412 T 14:56, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

– The official English title of this series used by all official English licensors (Crunchyroll for the anime, Viz Media for the manga) is "Haikyu!!" (no macron), not "Haikyū!!" Jeffinitelyjeff (talk) 05:05, 18 August 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. Steel1943 (talk) 23:55, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose per page creator. 排球 ("volleyball") is pronounced with a long u; so it won't hurt anyone to pronounce it correctly. This is primarily an article about a Japanese comic, if it is marketed overseas by people who don't know what the title means or how to pronounce it, that shouldn't concern us. • Support per MOS:A&M, which states "Use the most commonly known English titles for article names", which is based on WP:COMMONNAME. This applies to the use of macrons in titles as well. "Haikyu!!" is the official English title and the one in which reliable English-language sources will refer to the series as. It is not Wikipedia's place to enforce a naming standard that is not used by reliable English-language sources. —Farix (t | c) 11:58, 18 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Support if the non-macron spelling is the one used by reliable sources we should follow suit.--76.65.42.75 (talk) 16:18, 20 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
But it isn't. e.g. here's a reliable English source which spells the long ū correctly. Haikyu with a short u would mean something else. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:23, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Your source is from 2014. The English dub was announced in July 2017, making 2014 sources fairly irrelevant to the discussion.  ONR  (talk)  01:41, 26 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I beieve that guideline actually supports the move since the section regarding medis states Follow the general guidelines (above) to determine common usage. You should generally honor the current anglicization used officially by that party as it will often be the form in common usage in English-language reliable sources. That indicates to be that it supports using the non macron version since most English sources use it.--67.68.21.146 (talk) 01:28, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

low importance?

edit

consider upgrading the importance rating @ anime and manga project. for comparison the much less successful and impactful your lie in april currently holds a mid-level importance rating. or maybe the converse should be done, idk 216.164.249.213 (talk) 21:08, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
