Speedy deletion discussion from 2005

[edit]

Even though the "most successful band" it isn't, I oppose the speedy deletion on the grounds that it is really just a short article about a significant person. Weasel

Multiple issues

[edit]
  1. No in-line citations.
  2. Woefully inadequate WP:Lead.
  3. WP:Linkfarm. Especially in Videography. See also Wikipedia is not a repository of links.
  4. Tone and Matter of Style issues throughout main text and discography.
  5. Update information to 2010 where possible.

Shorrock is an ARIA Hall of Famer and should have a much better article. I'm busy with other editing and Real life (tm) and will be unable to do so.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:18, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed major edits

[edit]

I intend making some major edits over the next few days/weeks. Interim edits may be disorganised or incomplete. I will attempt to address the issues I mentioned above starting with deletion of the Linkfarm in Videography.––shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:50, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now at B-class. Further work possible with Lead and personal life details (e.g. full names of parents, sister, 1st wife, 2nd wife) but I've done my bit.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:40, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Naturalised Australian?

[edit]

We say he is, but his Member of the Order of Australia, awarded today, is Honorary [1], which applies to non-citizens only. What's the real story? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:49, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, his "honorary" status came as a surprise to me. Despite living here since 1954, it seems Shorrock never became an Australian citizen. I have established on ancestry.com that he appears on Australian electoral rolls, but that would be a consequence of British subjects eligibility to vote. Unless there is any information to the contrary, we need to remove the label "Australian" from the lead, and also remove "Category:Naturalised citizens of Australia". Certainly remove the category. But, while he may not be an Aussie citizen, he's an Aussie in every other way that matters, so I have no issue with continuing to describe him as an Australian. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 03:02, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
