AMAQ
[edit]Here are the facts:
- Rowan, as President of AMAQ, supported the Newman LNP's introduction of doctor contracts when the majority of AMAQ members, and the majority of doctors opposed them (no doubt this was influenced by the fact that he had in the past and would in the future seek preselection for the LNP).
- As a result of his continuing to take a position publicly at variance with the majority of doctors, the AMAQ first voted to have him not speak on the issue and secondly to remove him.
I don't think this presents him in anything like a favourable light, so in an article that is replete with glowing references to his medical qualifications I thought it might be an important bit of balance. More importantly, it explains his frequent Parliamentary denunciations of the "thugs" who in his view apparently run doctors' unions in Queensland.
The best source on these incidents in the public domain is the Courier-Mail, the newspaper of record in Queensland. I'm sorry its state politics coverage is slanted towards the LNP but up here this is just what we live with. I don't have another source for this important fact. The reference can be rephrased if you think it sounds too favourable towards Rowan but the source has to stay, lest we be adding information without appropriate citations, unless you can find a better one. - I have 0% of a problem with you including those two lines in the article: they are exactly right, it is important and they explain it perfectly as well (and not in overbearing detail for the size of the article). It was the slant of the original additions that was unacceptable, and it confused the heck out of me because I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time I've run into you and I was pretty sure you weren't an LNP shill so I was like "what is going on here?", but shall we just chalk that up to a misunderstanding?
