AIV Console
I just sent you an email with my latest build with a new (minor) feature and hopefully it'll run for you. I'll also ask another admin. I fixed the exit code too, for some reason it wasn't actually closing the process sometimes. Let me know. DavidWS (talk) 13:12, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, see aivconsole dot googlecode dot com, but yeah, whenever you get around to it. One admin confirmed that it did work. DavidWS (talk) 21:42, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey xeno, dont worry about that clan thing any more. It was there idea and they i knew i was good with Wikipedia. I staarted it but then eventually turned it down due to the lack of effort from my friends to help me. So you can delete the account all together cause weve moved to wikidot for the wiki and the main website is still a freewebs. Don't worry about me good old friend. I'm fine. ZipDX Deletion
HI. I'm new to posting on Wikipedia and just had a page deleted -- ZipDX. Could you please send the deleted page to me, so I can dissect it and try to figure out where I went wrong? I reviewed a lot of other entries before posting and thought I was in line. I'm not really sure how my ZipDX entry was different from ooma or Intercall or even Snom. But I'd like to try to figure it out and repost. Thanks for your help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Widebandfan (talk) 23:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC) Widebandfan

Hello! I've been looking around for an experienced user to "formally" adopt me (classroom-like setup). I was wondering if you were currently adopting. Thanks for your time. Chrishy 23:28, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Lateral Link entry update
Hi Xenocidic, I have revised the Lateral Link entry in hopes that it nows satisfies the inclusion criteria. I have deleted and revised the body of the article as well as added more reliable secondary sources within the references section. Please take a look at the revised article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:LegalB123/Lateral_Link#References and let me know if more revisions are still needed.

Admin
Hey you, don't know if you remember me but i'm BBHS. Even if its nice to harass other admins its getting a bit borring and i don't really see the need to come back as a new sockpuppet every freaking day. They don't like it i don't like it. Re: BBHS
I must respectfully disagree with your decision to allow him to prepare an unblock template (He's done so several times before, all rejected). This user does not have Wikipedia's best interests at heart and he is a prolific sockpuppeteer. Do you know the extent at which he has sockpuppeted? We're talking dozens of accounts just to disrupt Wikipedia. I must protest that unblocking him would be a gross injustice to Wikipedia. ScarianCall me Pat! 16:24, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- I don't really see the harm in allowing him to present his case. IMO there was not sufficient disruption on his talk page to justify blocking him off of it. At this point I haven't argued for or against an unblock, but I respectfully contend that locking him out of his talk page is not appropriate. –xeno (talk) 16:29, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Actually I believe there was just cause. He had ample opportunity to use an unblock template, but, instead, he used it to bait other users and "gloat" about his vast array of socks. If that's not misuse of talk pages then I don't know what is. He just wanted an argument, to be honest, my friend. ScarianCall me Pat! 16:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I know, but I still think blocking of the user talk page should be reserved for people who use it to spam recent changes, table-based goatse, etc. If a user is blowing off steam on his talk page it can be ignored. –xeno (talk) 17:19, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Important Question
Let's say an editor, (maybe not me, maybe somebody else) went to a certain project page (could be Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2008/Candidate statements, might not be, don't ask me) and impulsively decided to nominate themselves with only "WP:WTHN?" in place of the statement. What would happen to said (purley ficticious) editor?--Koji† 03:23, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Seeking Information from a Deleted Page (SRBLSA)
Good evening,
My name is Allison Monyei and I am the acting Historian for the Southern Region of the Black Law Students Association. Our organization is actively trying to reclaim its history and we fear that some might have been lost when this page was deleted and merged into the national organization's page. I am not asking for the page to be reactivated; I would like access to the information so that I may have it for our archives if it is valuable.
The name of the page is Southern Region of the Black Law Students Association (SRBLSA). I sincerely hope that you are able to help or at least direct me in the direction that I should go.
Your help is much appreciated! 68.107.199.36 (talk) 04:16, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Allison Monyei

New Version
Check out [2]. I added as close to huggle like diffs as I code. Now it displays a list of the user's recent 50 changes. (I did the diffonly=1 thing that J.delanoy suggested on Addshore's page). You click on the edit you want to see, and then a button, and it shows you the diff to the right. You can also view previous blocks and it shows the reporter's comments below the userlist. I also did some internal improvements. Let me know, DavidWS (contribs) 00:48, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Remember this article? Truthful data (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is vandalizing the article every forthnight without the slightiest offer of discussion whatsoever. I suppose the only solution would be to either full-protect the article indefinitelly or block the user (also indef), but I suspect that'll just yield us some socks. Another Idea would be to list the article at AfD for lack of notability, which could also solve the vandalism (as there's nothing to vandalize...). Any thoughts? --PaterMcFly (talk) 16:40, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- Indef'd but you could also AFD it if you think the article's subject isn't notable (doubt it would succeed though, that sequence of events seems to push them into notability). –xeno (talk) 16:41, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- These were my thoughts, too. Although I still don't know what's really going on here. Let's see whether the user is finally finding his talk page. I'd also keep an eye on the article and, should any socks appear, list them directly at AIV. --PaterMcFly (talk) 19:13, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Formatting
Can you take a peek at Marcia Fudge? I'm not clear on the infoboxes and a couple of formatting things. It all started when I was adding the boxes at the bottom with this edit. If you click preview on that edit, the boxes appear at the bottom, but if you look at that saved revision of the page, they do not appear after save. I figured out that it was because there wasn't enough text to bring it all down below the infoboxes far enough, so I eventually just made the reflist one column instead of two. Do you know any way around that? It's not like the reflist must be two columns, but I think it looks better. Also, even in its current form, the edit links for three sections appear right next to each other, and not next to the sections themselves...I can turn them off, I think, but how about having them show up in the right place? Thanks! Frank | talk 12:36, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- The current version looks ok to me... –xeno (talk) 20:32, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- What about [edit] [edit] [edit] showing up below the bottom of the first infobox instead of at the edge of each section heading? And if you look at previous revs with 2-column refs...no good. Frank | talk 20:49, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- I fixed the infobox thing, don't know about the other. J.delanoygabsadds 20:55, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks - I don't know where you find the time, but it looks perfect now. (2-column still doesn't work, though.) Frank | talk 21:39, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't worry about the edit-sec buttons bunching up, that's just what happens when there's infoboxes and small sections like that... –xeno (talk)

Admin Coaching
Hi Xenocidic! Are you currently giving admin coaching to students? If so would you be interested helping me out with it? I want a coach and I can't find a admin that I know that would do it. Thanks SteelersFan94 19:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Need help with vandalism user
Hi xeno - since you posted the welcome on my talk page, you voted yourself 'lucky guy that I bug with my problems' :) An IP user 156.34.215.217 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) has been posting repeated vandalism to the Brandon Crisp article, and so I spent the time to figure out what to do beyond undoing over and over - I posted a polite warning to his talk, another user posted a strong warning talk (both of which the user deleted from his talk), and then I posted him on the Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism page. The intervention comment was removed without action taken (or comment given back to me or in the history of the intervention page about why action may not have been taken), so now I'm out of 'next steps' to take, beyond possibly tossing up my hands and running away.... suggestions on how to handle situations like this? --GGG65 (talk) 23:30, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Getting more eyes on the situation is always a good thing... Per this diff, it seems that the AIV report may have been mis-read by the admin... I'll keep an eye on it... - Adolphus79 (talk) 23:36, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- I looked at the AIV history but I missed that comment that you pointed out (isn't there an easier way too see an AIV response than trying to find just the right diff to display?). But this IP user is really starting to piss me off - he seems to have an almost infinite amount of time to waste having re-vandalized the page 9 times in 2 days. So, the answer is to keep posting in AIV if the vandalism continues? And if it really is a shared IP, then tough luck? Seems like a lot of wasted time. I'll go hunting to see how I can request the page be semi-protected again, at least that will give me a few days of peace... --GGG65 (talk) 05:37, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- If he re-offends, let me know or re-report to AIV - don't mention the removal of talk page warnings as this is permissible (just complicates the issue reporting it). –xeno (talk) 13:19, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks xeno - and the reason I mentioned the removal of the talk page warnings is that on one of the Wiki vandalism-related help pages it said that if a user removes the talk page warnings then it is a proof that they have seen and read the warning, and is therefore a useful fact. Unfortunately the one thing that is missing (or that I haven't found) is a very simple step-by-step for doing stuff like AIV reports, etc etc. It's a steep learning curve :) --GGG65 (talk) 17:36, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you haven't yet, you might want to read the guide to using AIV... - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:46, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

The RfA Barnstar | ||
Xeno, I would like to thank you for your participation in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with 112 supports, 4 opposes and 5 neutrals. A special mention goes out to Stwalkerster and Pedro for nominating me, thanks a lot for having trust in me! In response to the neutrals, I will try to double check articles that have been tagged for speedy deletion before I CSD them and will start off slowly with the drama boards of ANI and AN to ensure that I get used to them. In response to the oppose !votes on my RfA, I will check that any images I use meet the non-free content criteria and will attempt to handle any disputes or queries as well as I can. If you need my help at all, feel free to simply ask at my talk page and I'll see if I can help. Once again, thank you for your participation, and have a great day! :) The Helpful One 22:06, 25 November 2008 (UTC) |

Just dropped by to say I had to use some of your stuff for my user page (like how to create a infobox and redirect to wikipedia from wiktionary), so thanks. By the why have you adopted me or something you seem to have? By the way I am changing my user page still if you want to see it, but I amde need your help for some of it, so feel free to edit it; then again you may decide not affiliate with it after what you last show on there (and it wasn't porn, especially seal porn I don't watch it, no one reply to that please) I have cheacked out a load of stuff you put on my discussion page by the way, it real help to get me started.

To xeno or TPS's, could you please take a look at my handling of this situation here and give an opinion as to how i'm handling it? I'd love some feedback here, as i've never been in a situation like this before and i'd like to know if i'm handling this situation correctly! Thanks JS (chat) 19:55, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- It looks like clean work on your part... if you are sure he's a sock puppet, I would recommend that you file a SSP report... - Adolphus79 (talk) 19:59, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- User:Whahwhah was created today just 15 minutes before User:Bluesmanyeah and Bluesmanyeah started vandalising the page just 1 minute after Whahwhah's initial vandalism. I believe this to be a clear cut case of one person trying to perform sneaky vandalism. It nearly worked as well, if I hadn't double checked the page I would'nt have noticed the vandalism by Whahwhah. I'm not sure wheather he's done enough damage to warrent a WP:SSP report though. If you still think I should file a report, please let me know here! Cheers :-) JS (chat) 20:13, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- With the one accout only having one edit, and with them not being the same type of vandalism (no regualr pattern), it would be a stretch to assume. I think you could probably hold off on the SSP report unless he/she/it keeps using both accounts in the same manner. - Adolphus79 (talk) 20:35, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the thoughts Adolphus, it's really appreciated! I shall hold off making a report. I actually expect him to continue his attempts to make me look like a vandal on my talk page and hopefully he'll leave the article alone and eventually move on. Again, thanks!
