Jadeite (disambiguation)

[edit]

I don't think that the reverted definition of jadite/jadeite glass as "glassware of or appearing like uranium glass" is adequate here. Even though the link does point to Uranium glass#Other colors, which has a fuller definition of jadite/jadeite glass as (semi)opaque green, a casual reader may interpret the disambiguation entry as "glassware of or appearing like *any* type of uranium glass". The most commonly found types of uranium glass are transparent chartreuse-yellow or transparent green, and so the translucent and opaque equivalents (yellow custard or green jadite) are not usually the first images that come to mind when uranium glass is mentioned. And since not all jadite glassware (esp. recent reproductions) is made with uranium glass anyway, the defining characteristic of jadite glassware is that it's translucent/opaque green. Martha Stewart, who repopularized the stuff in recent years-- see http://www.thegavel.net/Jadite.html for a typical description of her role-- doesn't even mention the uranium-glass aspect on her webpage about it: http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.3a0656639de62ad593598e10d373a0a0/?vgnextoid=1a0b76ecfd22f010VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default -- Wombat1138 (talk) 04:12, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • (wrt the re-revert) ...so would you suggest linkage to a "Jadeite (glass)" page that redirects to "Uranium glass#Other colors"? And/or a more detailed rewrite of the latter with individual subsections for jad(e)ite, custard, and other non-transparent non-yellow varieties of uranium glass? I'm honestly trying to understand how to format/rephrase this correctly in a way that also immediately and unambiguously conveys the correct information, because imho the current version really, really doesn't. -- Wombat1138 (talk) 05:04, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I personally don't care about the definition. What I do care is that we should follow disambiguation guidelines and formatting styles. So long as you do that, I won't revert again. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 11:33, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, you removed Pokémon from he inhuman nature, alright, but why change the power negation part? They were requesting a non-Marvel example and I gave one, what's the problem? Mateussf (talk) 01:50, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because that one is already used in memory manipulation. From what I've been told by User:Thefro552, we don't repeat characters on that list. Take it up with him if you don't approve, I'm just shooting for coherency here. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:59, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Edits

[edit]

Sorry, but I fail to see any "good faith" edits that I took out as well. I simply undid what you did because of discussion of consensus. I acted in good faith and do not appreciate it being called "vandalism" especially when comparing edits, it only appears as though I restored things. I took nothing away. I must also say that I am trying my best to be civil here, but it's kinda hard when I feel like I've been attacked. Now, if you could please clarify I would appreciate it. If I honestly made a mistake, I'd like to know precisely what I did. Anakinjmt (talk) 22:50, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I see what happened. Somehow in between the time I saw your edit about repeating characters and me hitting "undo" you reverted yourself and I didn't catch that. My bad. Sorry about that! Anakinjmt (talk) 22:53, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw you added the {{Overlinked}} template to Count Dracula. In my experience with overlinked pages (which is a category I watch on a daily basis, this page is not overlinked. [edit]

Hello. I know you've offered some comments at Talk:HP (disambiguation), but the conservation regarding the fate of hp belongs on its talk page. Will you please weigh in there and reconsider your stance. I think WP:REDIRECT indicates the page should redirect to the dab, since redirects are used to accommodate miscapitalizations. —Eustress talk 16:08, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spike

[edit]

I find your reverts confusing.

is clearer than the reverted alternative; quoting WP:MOSDAB A redirect should be used to link to a specific section of an article only if the title of that section is more or less synonymous with the disambiguated topic. This indicates a higher possibility that the topic may eventually have its own article.
  • Track spikes, lightweight shoes with spikes screwed into their bottom, or spike plate, in order to maximize traction
links directly to the article about spikes in track shoes (which is a redirect to Track spikes).
  • cleat (shoe), a type of shoe designed especially for sports played on grass or dirt, such as soccer or American football
was deleted for no explained reason
  • spike (Volleyball), jumping, raising one arm above the head and hitting the ball so it will move quickly down to the ground on the opponent's court
is clearer than the reverted alternative; quoting WP:MOSDAB A redirect should be used to link to a specific section of an article only if the title of that section is more or less synonymous with the disambiguated topic. This indicates a higher possibility that the topic may eventually have its own article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere&target=Spike_(journalism) shows articles link to Spike_(journalism), as required by MOS:DABRL.
Admittedly, that ought to read:
Spike (journalism), to decide not to publish or make public, a matter of concern in Journalism ethics and standards

Given I've just disambiguated a hundred articles using these links, why are your reverts superior? Josh Parris 10:55, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think articles will be created for those redirects any time soon. But whatever, so long as the page's layout adheres to the guidelines, you won't hear from me again. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 23:52, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dragon Ball DS 2

[edit]

In regards to your statement, most of the stuff included is true. I was attempting to create an article with all the sources I found but PhoenixDBT seems to have beat me to it. So I guess it another rewrite, preferably when the English release date is announced so that I can change the title. I predict the English release title will be Dragon Ball: Origins 2. So far right now I've only got the official V Jump and the Riddle of Shenlong inclusion announcements sourced. Maybe that all that needed right now. Sarujo (talk) 22:51, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Morbius (disambiguous)

[edit]

On the Morbius (disambiguous) page, I had changed the link for the Spider-Man episode to go to the actual entry for the Spider-Man episode: Morbius (Spider-Man) instead of a redirect page: Morbius (Spider-Man: Animated Series), but you had reverted the fix to point to the redirect. I am curious as to why. Jrh7925 (talk) 11:08, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I took care of it. You corrected the redirect just fine, I apologize for not seeing that. However the piping was formatted incorrectly. The page is fine now, thanks for pointing the redirect out. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:16, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gokuh's Voice Actor

[edit]

Eh? Why'd you revert my contribution? The voice actor I added was from a legitamate English dub. If you've got Harmony Gold's dub on there (which aired about five episodes and one movie), then why not include Creative Products' dub (which aired every episode of Dragon Ball, the Saiyan arc of DBZ, and two DBZ movies)?Linkdude20002001 (talk) 23:02, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We only mention Japanese and English versions. Alas, this is what I've learned from respected editors like User:Collectonian. She could probably give you more insight, bring it to her attention. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:10, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But you misunderstand; it is an English dub. An official, legitamate English dub. Over the past 24 years, there have been a number of different English dubs produced for the Dragon Ball series. Three in the US, one in Canada, one in France, one in Maylasia, and two in the Phillipines.Linkdude20002001 (talk) 08:20, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Let me clarify this: all English dubbing made in the US and Canada are certainly legitimate, and yes, we'll note the Japanese versions of Dragon Ball as well. However, like I said, bring this to someone like Collectonian's attention. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:23, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So, I brought it up on the talk page. I don't know why I have to, but I did. Though I don't think anyone's going to reply. Ever. I'm pretty sure a discussion isn't needed anyways. The information in the voice actor section was arong, so I fixed it. I didn't change it into a table this time either. I just replaced the incorrect information with correct information, and organized it so it would be less messy. It's confusing when it goes back and forth between adult and child Gokuh. If you insist that it's all jumbled up, then fine, I can re-arrange it, but there's no reason to keep the incorrect information. Linkdude20002001 (talk) 18:27, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tupac

[edit]

I do not understand why you left me this message when I simply rearranged the lead section to be more accessible to readers rather than its messy current state. It is not a huge change that requires discussion. JTBX (talk) 02:27, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You just performed a blind revert, that's no "rearrangement". There's a difference. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:32, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I only changed the intro if you look at the history page, the rest of the article is up to date. JTBX (talk) 02:37, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Ok. What others do you have in mind? Do you notice something I don't? Jhenderson777 (talk) 17:49, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I noticed your link of all the links that are in the Spider-Man (film series) and I even fixed a few links that are in the article. Linking it to the real name of the article instead of an redirection name. But I have yet to notice something that needs an redirection. Jhenderson777 (talk) 23:03, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I take back what I said for I now noticed that the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot was an broken link and fixed it. And I also fixed the link of the disambiguation page Venom (film) to Spider-Man (film series)#Venom. Thanks for clearing that one up. Jhenderson777 (talk) 23:12, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Soliciting your input

[edit]

Hi. There's an attempt to bring the History of Spider-Man article, which needs enormous work, up to encyclopedic standards. You were among the editors in the deletion discussion, and it'd be good to get your input on, and edits to, the work-in-progress at User:Spidey104/Fictional history of Spider-Man sandbox. With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 04:54, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additional comments needed

[edit]
Following a month-long process of multiple editors to have "Fictional history of Spider-Man" conform to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction), one editor has objected and wishes for the article, which has been the subject of three deletion discussions, to remain as is.
Alternately, the proposed new version appears at User:Spidey104/Fictional history of Spider-Man sandbox.
Your input, as an editor involved in the deletion discussion, is invited at Talk:Fictional history of Spider-Man#Rewrite and replacement. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Romanization for words of English origin

[edit]

On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.

One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

What this invitation is:

  • You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.

What this invitation is not:

  • This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
  • This is not a vote on compromises either.

It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:37, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pyrokinesis

[edit]

Could you please add a comment to the "Regarding The Unfortunate Coinage" section at Talk:Pyrokinesis explaining why you removed my edit expanding on S. T. Thank you for posting a comment on the Pyrokinesis page. I assume you're objecting to my re-phrasing of S. T. Joshi's criticism. I have asked readers of that page who have access to Joshi's book to post a fuller quote. I still think the word "trash" is an overly harsh way to describe the edit I made, however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Runsninth (talkcontribs) 02:26, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up

[edit]

I just got my copy of the domestic Dragon Box volume 2. I looked at the character profiles in the provided Dragon Book and I have found a few strange assurances in the translations or localizations. Here, they use the direct translations on character names, IE Tenshinhan, Yamucha, Chaozu - nothing wrong there. Here where Funi gets weird. They list both Japanese and "direct" English translations of the technique attacks. Yamucha goes, "Rogafufu-ken ("Wolf Fang Gale Fist"), Sokidan ("Steered Ki Blast")", but when we get to Ten, his techniques read, "Kikoha ("Qigong Wave"), Kikoho ("Qigong Cannon")". It's like Funimation can't seem to agree on what transliteration for lifeforce energy they want to use. Also the Goku's signature attack is written in the Turtle Hermit's profile as Kamehame-Ha. Roshi's name is "Turtle Hermit (Muten Roshi)", Kami is "Kami-sama", Krillin is "Kuririn", Frieza is "Freeza", Shenron is "Shen Long", and both Goku and Gohan are finally given their proper names Son Goku and Son Gohan. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Sarujo (talk) 21:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
