Helpme request

[edit]

Hello, you used the {{helpme}} tag. How may I help you? When you've asked your question, please put the tag back so we know to check back. Where is the page to request the undeletion of history? SNS 00:52, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete history? If a page was deleted out of process, you could have a look at deletion review and/or deletion policy. Luna Santin 01:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, that page had the "History only undeletion" I was looking for (I remember going to that page before but I forgot how I found it). SNS 01:03, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, good. :) I actually wasn't aware of that process, but DRV sounded like as good a place as any to start. Glad to have helped, even if it was a bit clumsy. Luna Santin 01:08, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:DKJF Logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DKJF Logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:04, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Cancelled Virtual Boy games

[edit]

Ugh, I just typed you up a long response to your question, and when I went to save it, I got some "wikipedia is experiencing problems" message, and when I went back, what I had typed was gone.

So I'll have to summarize: I think (sometimes in the next day or two) I will just nominate the basically empty virtual boy articles together as a group, and then possibly nominate the others later, depending on whether they have any worthwhile verifiable content. And, I would not be against the idea of all of these cancelled game articles being merged together into one "Cancelled Virtual Boy games" article, and I will suggest this possibility when I do the AfD nominations. --Xyzzyplugh 19:35, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think as of about an hour from now, the 5th day is officially over for the AfD debate(wikipedia goes by Greenwich Mean Time, I think). The problem is that often these AfD discussions aren't closed out for a day or two or three, as there tends to be a backlog. It would be good if you could do the merging (which does seem to be the likely result), as you've offered to do so and you have interest in the articles. Probably the only way you could do so before you leave on vacation, though, would be if you managed to contact an Administator and have them close out the debate quickly, instead of waiting days until they get around to it. --Xyzzyplugh 22:54, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone continues to vandalise the Diddy Kong Racing DS article with nonesense about Simpson characters & the game being cancelled. Do I use a protection tag or nominate it somewhere for protection? Or do I do something else? SNS 00:36, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, you can request protection for the page here. I would suggest that you ask for semi-protection on the page, as that would keep the anon and new editors away. Ryūlóng 00:39, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have closed the AfD for you -- have fun merging, and don't forget to redirect when done. I have also semi-protected the above Diddy Kong article that you were having problems with. Best wishes, Xoloz 03:26, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More History Undeletions

[edit]

Hi,

I did both, as requested, and also made the other redirect to Zelda Wii for you: no need to go to deletion review for that. Some recent changes patroller, a non-admin, had added the protected template without actually protecting the page! Best wishes, Xoloz 15:02, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History undeletions... not much there

[edit]

Both Freezeezy and the talk page only had nonsense/profanity in their histories, so those I did not restore. Treasure Trove Cove had one minimal edit, but I did restore it for you. Best wishes, Xoloz 15:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks, I ripped it off of the Template:EnderBooks one. But IMO the Yoshi/DK/Wario series aren't that related and adding too many of those might clutter up the bottom navbar. But I am interested in getting input on my idea to spin the sports spinoffs into a Template:Mario sports as well, as that seems expansive and inter-related enough to stand on its own. Hbdragon88 19:25, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the idea for that template (in fact I was considering that some time ago). SNS 19:29, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, I have concerns hwo that the bottom navbar might be too large - with just four entirs, it was cleaner to add just four entries to a bottom navbar. Now I'm wondering just how far to go - Party, Kart, Tennis, Golf, and Dr. Mario all have their own templates, I've realized. Do all of those need to be linked on the bottom? I'm not sure. I think some of them could just stand on their own... Hbdragon88 23:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Banjo-Kazooie characters

[edit]

Grouping them together in one article is best, partly because that seems to be the standard way of doing things (for example, List of characters in Golden Sun and List of Metal Gear Solid 3 characters), and partly because there aren't actually that many characters that need mentioning. I would actually suggest making List of characters in the Banjo-Kazooie series, because an individual article just for the game would be a bit empty. -- Steel 10:43, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Party 8

[edit]

Hi,

I think your first idea was probably better; a history merge would only make going through all those diffs more complicated. I have restored both for you -- there was nothing useful on either talk page, just newbie questions. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:36, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it makes a big difference, but -- since "redirects are cheap" as the saying goes -- I did what you suggested. Best wishes, Xoloz 17:42, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done and done. :) The Wii Play redirect may be a bit of a stretch, but what the heck? At the least, it will forestall bad articles about a non-existent game. As usual, talk page contained nothing useful, just an argument over whether to AfD the thing, so not restored. Best wishes, Xoloz 15:35, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh boy! History Merges!

[edit]

Done. What fun! :) Seriously, if you find anymore, please do let me know; GFDL must be obeyed. You're quite good at this detective work! ;) Best wishes, Xoloz 04:30, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Today's batch done. :) I did not merge the talk pages -- although this is sometimes done, I view the talk pages as distinct here, one for discussion of the redirect, and the new one for discussion of the merged content. Best wishes, Xoloz 15:39, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Latest batch done. :) Xoloz 00:58, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Potter 7

[edit]

Hi I am still wondering what happened to the original title of HP7. Thanks for commenting in response to my question. Yes, I saw the edit summary arguing there was a problem with the tile, but no explanation. The vague justification could really have meant anything. This whole business has been extremely odd. A new user changes the tile arbitrarily. Someone starts a debate on yet a third title. Several people who have never commented there before all oppose it. The debate gets deleted. Someone amazingly fast closes the dabate. Sandpiper 08:10, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't be surprised if the person who moved it originally made up that part about it being against Wikipedia policy (I mean the sixth book was under the same kind of title until it got it's official title wasn't it?) As for the debate being deleted, that was likely only a coincidence (that person deleted a lot more then that & it's common vandalism to randomly delete parts of articles/talk pages). SNS 14:11, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

All done

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Banjo_&_Kazooie.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Banjo_&_Kazooie.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. PS3 (disambiguation)

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on PS3 (disambiguation), by Just64helpin, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because PS3 (disambiguation) fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

only two entries, dablink exists in PlayStation 3 page.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting PS3 (disambiguation), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate PS3 (disambiguation) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:03, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:MP Arcade Screenshot.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MP Arcade Screenshot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ^demon[omg plz] 18:01, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image question

[edit]

Hi,

The logo was deleted because it was unused non-free content. I'm not exactly sure what ^demon was thinking, but it may be that the article no longer requires the logo, since a screen-shot is now in place to illustrate it. Was the logo ever taken out of the article for any period of time? Best wishes, Xoloz 18:04, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I restored the logo, and stuck it back in the article, so it would be "used". You should probably go make the think "look pretty" -- I have terrible aesthetic sensibilities! :) Best wishes, Xoloz 22:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Latest undeletion...

[edit]

...is done. :) The guy who didn't leave a comment in the log is Neutrality, old-time Wikipedian, who is not the most thorough person, and consequently not my favorite, either. Still, my point is that his behavior is no surprise. Best wishes, Xoloz 00:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Latest batch is finished. I undeleted the demo disc as a contested PROD -- anyone may still send it to AfD. If you want it to survive in the long-term, the article will need reliable sources. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please update your status with WP:VG

[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Paper Mario DS

[edit]

{{helpme}}Paper Mario DS was recently deleted even though the AFD result was redirect [1]. Should I make an entry in deletion review or would this count as history undeletion (which doesn't require discussion)? If it's the latter, then who do I ask to undelete the history? SNS (talk) 03:44, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Paper Mario DS appears to have been restored as a redirect to Mario role-playing games#Paper Mario 3DS. Robert Skyhawk (T C B) 03:58, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The administrator who closed the AFD deleted the article & then made it into a redirect (even though deletion was not a part of the result at all). Which leads to my question about getting it's history restored. SNS (talk) 04:16, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Wii Play Screenshot 2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wii Play Screenshot 2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:54, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Donkey Kong Country (series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Pine forest (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi SNS,

I apologize for failing to attend to your undeletion requests, which appear to have been perfomed by now. I was in hospital, and completely off-wiki for two weeks as a result. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
