Sources (recordings)

I saw your work on Joseph P. Skelly, and as it relates to the early recording industry it caught my positive attention. Thank you for creating it! When looking for sources for this type of information, may I suggest the Discography of American Historical Recordings as a highly useful, reliable site? For instance, here's what appears for Skelly: [1]. There are other discographical sites available that are more comprehensive, but none that have the same depth or level of academic respect. I hope that is helpful. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 15:33, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

That's a great source. Thanks. I know I have used it for other subjects but I'm not sure why it didn't show up when I was looking for coverage of this one. I will try to expamt the entry with content from it when I get a chance. I found working on articles in this area discouraging because it is so difficukt to get them approved. Even an extensive discography as in that source doesn't seek to help much. Sad really. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:28, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Well, for one thing the site's "search" function doesn't work well. I had to manually find it in the "list of names". If you have something in this topic area you'd like to explore, but aren't sure if it's likely to pass current understanding of Wikipedia notability, feel free to reach out to me. I have some offline sources for the early American recording industry which aren't readily available. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 17:05, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

User:DGG is this publisher notable? Do you know any editors willing amd able to expamd it if need be? Thanks. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:43, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Wecouldexpand it by listing all the authors it publishes, but the reader could find it just as well in the references. I tend to be very accomodating with articles like this, as an assistance to the reader in evaluation of sources if a particular publisher is mentioned, so I added a bit and accepted it. Anyone with a full article in a national biography is notable. It's one of the basic standards. I therefore accepted the article and advised the reviewer ] DGG ( talk ) 03:09, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Advice

I added publisher information for the books and information about his thesis. Hint: You can almost always find the date, university, and thesis title for 1 20/21st century American with a PhD in WorldCat. Hint2: Since the notability of an academic author in the humanities depends in lare part on where their books are published, always try to get this information. WorldCat is the easiest way . Hint3: Always link any names mentioned for which we have articles-- it shows that the person is writing about important subjects. . Link all university names. Link significant cities. (I usually don't bother with state names). DGG ( talk ) 03:31, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Cameo Comedies sources

Just wanted to let you know - I added a bunch of newspaper sources to the Cameo Comedies talk page (but I don't have time to incorporate them, if you'd be willing to give them a look?). Most are very short sources with mentions of directors, actors, and the individual titles of the comedies. Hope this helps! - Whisperjanes (talk) 15:24, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
