Bear Wood

[edit]

Looking at your recent edits, I have to say I can see what you mean when you say Bear Wood is not in Bournemouth; though it could be argued that parts of it are. it is often lumped in with Bournemouth as you cannot approach it directly from the conurbation without passing through Bournemouth. However, the Bear Cross roundabout is in Bournemouth; the border is about half a mile down the Magna Road. I suppose it all depends on how far these rather amorphous areas extend. Album covers

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you've reuploaded some album covers from the iTunes Store. While it is nice to have higher resolution versions, it goes against our fair use policy. You see, in order for our use of the images to be legal, we can't interfere with the copyright holder's ability to make a profit off of the works. In this case, we have to make sure it wouldn't be possible for someone to use the image to, say, use the image to sell illegal copies. So when uploading fair use images, it's actually better to have a low resolution version. ShadowHalo 06:29, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have not actually uploaded any of these album covers for several months, but I won't upload any more. I will try to replace all of these images with lower resolution versions. Mahahahaneapneap 12:14, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AA419 vandalism

[edit]

Good work fixing the vandalism of the AA419 page. It's not the first time that it's happened, so you'll need to keep tabs on that page for the forseeable future. You've doubtless figured out that the people who are doing the vandalism are the same scammers who are targetted by AA419. In a way, it's a back-handed compliment. After all, if the AA419 crew weren't having any effect, the vandals wouldn't bother defacing their web-page.

Official Muse website

[edit]

I see that way back in the day you added the official (licensed) lyrics to a few Muse songs. (On this a heartfelt handshake for resisting the temptation to go the easy/copyvio way.) I've just cleaned out a bunch of copyvio links from the Muse singles articles, and I was wondering how you determined the correct php page on Muse's website to link -- is there a way to see the url behind it, or did you just use trial and error?

Thanks! - Revolving Bugbear 21:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I had a specific way of doing this. I used the non-flash version of the website which used to be linked from the main page before the website was redesigned. From there, go to Discography --> Lyrics and then the album and song you want. When the lyrics come up, right click in the frame and then go to properties (depending on which browser you're using) to find the URL of the lyrics. Unfortunately, the page has not been updated to include Hullabaloo or Black Holes & Revelations and probably won't ever be seeing as how the last news article was in September 2006. Well done for all your work on the Muse articles :) Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 08:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Further information on the GiX will be included very soon. Both detailed and Gix images will be provided as soon as obtained from the writer.

This is not a hoax, prank, improbable theory nor stupidity, in order for the rest of the information to upload, the user will need an average of 60 days to write the rest of the information, once or twice a week the extra details plus images will be uploaded.

So please wait, if no changes happen within the next 60 days this page can be deleted without a fight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SWLOTR4712 (talkcontribs) 02:52, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

West Germanic languages

[edit]

Hi, I would like to warn you that this map is something wrong. Here are some hints to improve it:

  1. The South Tyrol in Italy is mainly German speaking and should be added to the map;
  2. Gaeltacht regions in Ireland and Celtic speaking areas In Great Britain should be marked, especially thiose where the language is more vigorous;
  3. I wouldn't separate Norwegian (both Bokmål and Nynorsk, even if the latter is somewhat more different) from Swedish and Danish: especially when written, these languages are mutually intelligible; a better division would be Insular Scandinavian (Icelandic and Faroese vs. Continental Scandinavian.

Medusa

[edit]

I reverted because Tyrenius created the image and in his view it was incorrect. I suggest you leave it alone. However I should have left an explanation...Modernist (talk) 16:32, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have tested the images in photoshop, and the colors are objectively the same. When you look at the two at full size, they also appear the same. However, when viewed at thumbnail size in the article, the borders of the png are fuzzier. This makes some colors, especially the magenta in the bottom right, appear darker than they should be. I would tend to agree with Modernist in this case. Lithoderm 17:14, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They are not at all the same on my monitor. It may be a question of gamma and other settings. See Talk:The_Raft_of_the_Medusa#Colours. The PNG image was 1KB and I believe this was too low to exactly duplicate the original colours, so there was a compromise. I have now uploaded a PNG of 3KB, which matches the original exactly on my monitor. Is there any objection to now deleting File:Medusa-Palette-1.png as it has been replaced by the new PNG in the article (it will be CSD sole contributor request)? Ty 03:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've tested in Photoshop, which does give the same colour values for the GIF and the first PNG. The problem occurs with Firefox as a browser. I've tested in Internet Explorer, and it's OK there. The second PNG image which I uploaded works fine in both, so it makes sense to stick with that. Ty 16:21, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks everyone for the input. I'm OK with whatever looks best to everyone in the article. Mahahahaneapneap (talk)

Brading Town

[edit]

This was a very poor revert indeed. The article had been marked for cleanup since September 2009. I cleaned up the text by taking out the fluff and leaving only referenced facts in there. I also fixed the infobox. On the other hand, your blind revert reinserted out of date information (the chairman), reinstated the wrong types of dashes, failed to cleanup the article (and meant it was tagged again). Most importantly, you reinserted all the text in the article that is actually a copyright violation, as it is copied and pasted from the club's website.

Please be more careful (and constructive) in future. Cheers, Number 57 18:58, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Your edit definitely fixed some things, but it also removed a lot of relevant information, and introduced mistakes, leaving the article in a worse state than before. Calling it a "cleanup" is frankly incorrect. Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 20:06, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Given that 90% of the article text was a copyright violation, I don't think that could be the case. Anyway, if you feel I have left out any relevant information, feel free to add it back in and reference it. Cheers, Number 57 20:12, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If that was the case, an appropriate edit summary would have been something like this: "Removed copyright violation, updated information and removed unsourced statements". If that had been the case, I would probably have been more hesitant to revert. Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 20:15, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting in touch. I understand that it is a sensitive topic and I had no idea it was you editing the page, so I must apologise for appearing insensitive. Maps

[edit]

Hi, I imagine you've put a lot of work into them, but the maps at 2014–15 Western Football League are way, way too big. I have a large-ish screen, but it's too small to show the whole map. They really have to be a lot smaller, along the lines of the Southern League ones. I think we may have hit upon the reason why Step 5–6 articles don't usually have maps – the clubs are too close together to make the maps readable unless they're absolutely huge. Bretonbanquet (talk) 13:05, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I've reduced the map sizes from 800 to 700 pixels in width, and also cropped the images slightly on the northern edge. I've viewed them at 1024x768 resolution, and they fit comfortably on the screen now. Mahahahaneapneap (talk) 11:59, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
