Russell Falkenstein recreation

Hi! Through your logs I see that you deleted Russell Falkenstein as an nn-bio. It has been recreated. Punkmorten 19:03, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Gone now...first he was a leader in the paper industry and now he has apparently transformed into the leader of Teens for Tomorrow...still a nn bio, so redeleted. Thanks.--MONGO 19:24, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

do you actually read RfAs?

At all? or just voice your, support vote, for anyone with [[Category:Conservative Wikipedians]] on their page? Oh well who am I to complain, you helped get my conservative, strawman, sockpuppet +sysoped almost a month ago Of course I never used those silly category things, so there goes that theory--152.163.101.7 03:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

? I read AfD's...I read at over 300 words per minute...I didn't notice anything about a category you refer to. If you weren't a chicken shit you'd use a username. Clarify things for you?--MONGO 03:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Having a username, and using a username are two different things--152.163.101.7 03:32, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Still unclear...are you referring to AfD articles for deletion or to RfA...request for adminship? Either way, I don't pay attention to userboxes or what is posted on userpages in RfA's looking only at edit history. I have repeatedly voted support for liberal nominees for adminship and almost never vote oppose, instead preferring to not vote at all. As far as AfD's, I have not once looked at a person's userpage that nominated an article for deletion. I look solely at the article material.--MONGO 03:36, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Shoshone National Forest

Sure, I'll be glad to create a map for Shoshone National Forest. My intentions are to do a map for a western park (or National Forest), with varied terrain compared to Maine, and come up with color schemes/symbols that would work across both. Shoshone fits this need. Thanks for asking. —--Aude (talk | contribs) 03:39, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I felt bad. Hmains 06:47, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Xenaphon

Usually a good idea to put NPA blocks on WP:ANI for general review, especially when you're a bit of a green admin. This isn't a comment on the quality of the block at all, by the way. - brenneman(t)(c) 06:52, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah...I ran out of time...and access was getting bogged down.--MONGO 08:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Also, I doubt he'll be back as it was just a new account...possible WOW even, but not a lot to go on. I didn't really think I needed anyone's approval for that block though.--MONGO 08:17, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Not suggesting that you needed approval it's just that NPA blocks are a grey area of policy. Hell, I created WP:PAIN so my feeling on them is pretty clear, but if you'll recall they didn't make me an admin! ^_^
brenneman(t)(c) 08:33, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, no, I wasn't trying to be obstinate...I'll list it now...thanks for the reminder.--MONGO 08:34, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Greetings, MONGO! I wanted to sincerely thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with a final result of 55/14/3. Your support means a lot to me! If you have any questions or input regarding my activities, be they adminly or just a "normal" user's, or if you just want to chat about anything at all, feel free to drop me a line. Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 07:42, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I see that you agree that User:Dr Joe's edits are suspicious... his latest edit totally clinches it though, as he went to the article Mythology and reverted my changes on it, exactly like Beckjord did one or twice in the past out of nowhere, and then made edit comments on his talk page and talk:Bigfoot about how "my" mythology article sucks and needs to be opposed. I was wondering if you could go undo his edit for me there? DreamGuy 09:23, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind, I reverted it myself. It was Bigfoot I already had more than one revert on nd not Mythology. Shame that we don't have people watching that page for the same kind of POV-pushing nonsense that goes on on Bigfoot though. DreamGuy 10:31, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry it took me awhile...Bekjord may now be gone...he sems to have desired to move on...likely will return as another editor with a new name.--MONGO 10:33, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Harry Cassidy

Why did you speedy delete Harry Cassidy? You should have reverted it to when it was about a real person. Next time check the history!Homey 10:49, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

MONGO; Thank you for your encouragement, nomination, and support. I appreciate the confidence they represent. I just wanted you to know I've reblocked these two permanently, as they were both sockpuppets created for the purpose of policy violation. Jayjg (talk) 17:31, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Good call...since I'm a newbie admin, I preferred to err on the side of conservative as far as a long term block.--MONGO 19:02, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Harry Cassidy

I suggest you conduct a more precise google search. For instance "harry Cassidy" +social work produces quite a number of hits. [1]

For instance, he is referenced in the Canadian Encyclopedia [2]

He is also the subject of several journal articles:

  • Allan Irving, "Canadian Fabians: the WORK and Thought OF Harry Cassidy and Leonard Marsh 1930 -1945." Canadian Journal OF Social WORK Education, 1981
  • Allan Irving, “Social Science Research in the University: An Examina-tion of the Views of Harry Cassidy and Harold Innis”, The Canadian Journal of Higher Education, v. 10 (1980)

He was also the runner up in the Ontario Liberal Party leadership convention in the 1950s. But if you want to waste time with an AFD, go ahead. As I said, in future, please check the article history before doing a speedy delete. In this case the vandal wiped out the existing article about a notable person and substituted a junk article about himself. Homey 19:29, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

RE: additional question: I saw it this morning but was quite busy at work today, and my wife and I went out for the evening tonight. I intend to research my contributions history and post answers to his questions sometime this weekend, although I suspect that whatever I post, it won't satisfy him. However other users will probably expect some response there and I bet if I ignore it, I will lose support, and possibly some who voted to support may change their minds. After seeing some other RfA's, I am not surprised that someone has further questions of me. I wonder why, however, he singled out my RfA and one other. I don't know why I am being held to a higher standard that others. Thanks for your support, Roger --rogerd 05:28, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

I answered his questions. --rogerd 16:07, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, your are correct. Thanks for fixing my typo. --rogerd 03:33, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I seem to be very popular with sockpuppets. And I never shopped with Pets.com. Unless a lot of negativity comes out of the woodwork tommorrow, I don't think I will need those two votes anyway. Did you notice that the guy who voted no changed his vote to neutral based on my answers? I spent an hour or more researching the answers for him, and he still only voted neutral. Take care. --rogerd 05:59, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

I am thinking of asking him why the neutral, and why he singled out me and one other RfA (after my RfA is over). On the other hand, I may just let it go. --rogerd 06:10, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

MONGO- I just woke up and checked my messages. Thank you so much for shepherding this RfA through! Your support and help was invaluable. I probably won't get around to sending the thank you messages to all who voted until this evening. But I wanted to send this one right away. Thanks again! Re:Cool it

I want you to stop lecturing Tony Sidaway about his comments, okay. You don't have to add a second to everyone else that has something negative to say about his actions. Not a month ago, you were asking him for advice and now you're lecturing him. I think he is well aware of your opinion at this point so drop it, you're acting like a troll.--MONGO 18:37, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps I was too harsh, but...I don't understand these actions, it was not like this a month ago, which is why I am a bit aggressive. But maybe you;re right; I'll cool it, and sit back for awhile while this situation plays itself out. I have no wish to be a troll. -MegamanZero|Talk 18:44, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, that would be best. I know you mean well...just give the man a little room to breathe...there is a method to his madness...happy editing!--MONGO 18:45, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Will do, I am very similar to Tony as far as making arguments anaylticaly in situations, and experience has told me people don't respond well to it. I only wanted to share that with him, as its the reason people are a bit hot-headed afterwards. I mean, sure, when you do it, you'll be factually correct in your thesis, but the way its communicated is not the best... -MegamanZero|Talk 18:53, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
You're a good editor, so I would just pop in and out of all those entangling things that Tony gets involved in. He is much more experienced in those areas than either of us. You don't need to move my comment back over to my talk page this time...I usually post on the talk page of the person I am communicating with and they post their comment on mine. In most situations, the conversations are of no consequence to other readers that may be looking at it, so it doesn't need a double post. Anyway, what I do is wrestle with the bureacracy every now and then and do my article stuff other times...if you hang around all the red tape areas too long it will stop being fun, real quick. Most of those areas are hotbeds of argument so I wouldn't mess around there unless you really have something important to add. Just my opinion, and I'm not trying to lecture ya! See you around!--MONGO 19:04, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I think dealings in policy and the like are quite exilirating, and are just as much fun as making articles. :) I use to be a part of the debate commitiee at school, which explains why Tony and I are similar (and its why I choose him as mentor). -MegamanZero|Talk 19:08, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
Fair enough, however, I shall cite that I am not infringing upon WP:NPOV. I agree to the max that Ms. Kelly's actions regarding the deletion of the infoboxes were completely correct. However, the proceding (or lack of) discussion and civility was surprising, especially considering her admin and arbcom status. I don't witness admins like Mr.Sidaway saying things like that, I don't hear you saying things like that, Mr. MONGO, I don't hear Phil Welch, or even Lord Jimbo saying them, etc. It was un-civil to not discuss this beforehand or at least give someone a heads-up beforehand, anyway you look at it, no matter how right it was to delete the legions of malicious userboxes. -MegamanZero|Talk 19:59, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Mongo, my liege, my model

Mongo, as I am a politically conservative and pro-American Wikipedian (though one living in Ireland), you were once pointed out to me as example of a great conservative Wikipedian. So it was with great pleasure that I noted your support of my RfA. If there is any way at all I can be of service, please do let me know! Regards, Babajobu 01:18, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

My dear Mongo

Hi, my dear Mongo! I'm sorry I took a day or so to reply to your message, but it was a very interesting one and I really wanted to take my time when answering. First of all, allow me to thank you very much for your kind words and your invitation to get more involved in the project; it really means a lot to me that an experienced user like yourself has taken the time to welcome me so warmly.

Regarding your questions, I happen to be very interested in the Shoshone, and in fact I wrote an essay some time ago on the separation of the Comanche from the original tribe. I would be very happy to review the current contents of the articles you've mentioned and see if I can collaborate. Unfortunately, my knowledge of the Nez Perce and Crow Nation is not that deep, but I'll still try and improve our articles, along with many others that I've already put in my mental to-do list. I'm happy to see that we already have rich resources on the Comanche (especially at Comanche History), but I fear that large chunks of information are copvios - I'll doublecheck them asap.

It ashames me a little to ask this, but I hope you'll indulge a newbie (today is my first month Wiki-birthday!). I'd like to know exactly how working groups and projects function in WP - do they have mailing lists, or is discussion conducted directly at certain pages? Is it possible to consult a full list of all available projects? I wonder this because I'd really like to check whether a WP project on Native American resources exist or not; and in case it doesn't, to create one eventually when I'm (far) more experienced.

Fortunately, your message has also been very timely to remind me my objectives when I first arrived. At first, I wanted to write, write, and after that, write even more; but then I became entangled with anti-vandalism (I must admit I love RC patrolling!). All in all, my activity in the last couple of weeks has not been the most creational stage of my life, and I think it's time to remember what I came for in the first place.

I hope you don't mind the lenght of this message. It's great to see there are so many nice people like you around here. Please, feel free to message me whenever you want. A great pleasure to meet you, my dear Mongo! Cheers, -- Phædriel *whistle* 05:59, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Nandesuka

Hi, just a request. Have you ever encountered an editor called Nandesuka (talk · contribs)? If you have, I'll find someone else, but I'm trying to find someone to try and do this. I believe that Nandesuka is engaging in personal attacks on me, he is adamant that I'm mistaking "civil disagreement" for personal attacks. It would be useful to have a person unacquainted with his discussion style to give his statements a once-over, in their original context, and see what they think. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 17:39, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Mongo!

Hi Dave! I'll be sure to remember your good advices and your insight - they strike me as great guidelines to follow while I'm here. The information you provided me on projects is great too, and it served me to observe that you are right: no currently active wikigroups deal with Native American resources, although there are some other ethnic-related ones from whose experience I can benefit. I'm starting a basic draft of a working group in that direction, and I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I decide it's ready to be launched.

On a side note, I must tell you I'm a hopeless perfectionist, and my attention to detail is my curse. Hence, when I saw your user page I thought "Hey, I think I could make Mongo's page look a little better"... and after struggling with wikicode for a couple of hours, I came up with this version. I hope you'll like it - if you do, just copy the text from my sandbox to your user page. It actually displays a little better on Firefox, but as far as I can tell, it looks fairly the same in all browsers. I really really really hope you like it; but if you don't, don't feel compelled to use it just because I made it, k? Promise me?

Have a great day, Dave! See you later, -- Phædriel *whistle* 01:06, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

For not only having a super-neato user page, but for doing such a good job that someone gives it to you! Makes a barnstar look pretty crappy, don't you think? Congratulations.

I thought I might as well do it

The first thing I could find so far was Harry Cassidy, but someone already gave you stick about that one, dammit. Some other deletions I looked twice at were:

  • Marissa Siketa was given speedy tag with "Typo in actor's name, articles merged.", and the log has your reason as "vanity page, zero notablity". There may be something I'm missing, but that one looks like a cock-up. The tag didn't have a valid speedy reason, we like redirects on mispellings, and the article at the time looks like it should have gone to AfD.
Yeah, Tony did chastise me for that one. My mistake.
  • Llanrhymny you deleted with the note "content was: '{{empty}}see Llanrumney'", when Llanrumney was a valid redirect target.
I should have done a redirect...didn't recognize the comment "see Llanrumney" for what it was.
  • Hanns Trippel you deleted and restored. Totally my opinion, but you left the article in a pretty bad state. To wikify, bold the initial sentance, and smack {{bio-stub}} on the bottom would have looked a bit better.
Yeah, I googled it after and undeleted, but did add the expand tag. Could have done more for sure.
  • Stephen Mallinder was deleted with note "content was: '{{db-bio}}Stephen Mallinder was a former member of Cabaret Voltaire, and now lives in [[Perth, Western Australia|P...'". Err, this looks like a bad one as well. It was tagged {{db-bio}} but clearly makes claim, to an band with an article no less. Restored.
Sidaway nailed me on that one too..
  • Philotic Web looks like it might have been iffy. Your deletion comment "content was: '{{d}}The Philotic Web (www.philoticweb.net) is a website and forum dedicated to the Ender Series by Orson Scott Card.{{Website-stub}}')" clearly mentions a well-known author, and the speedy tag {{d}} is one you should always be extra careful of. Restored and sent to afd which is probably what you should have done to begin with.
Another Tony recycle...you're right, I should have sent it to afd and just made a no vote comment.
  • A couple that have been revived but still look like they were valid speedies are Oily Hare and Ahad.
When I deleted Oily Hare content was "A Texas Oilman fights bugs over property right to his rabbit hole, Bugs hole in Deepinahola, Texas upsets an oil tycoon because it isn't producing an oil, And Bugs Bunny is Pretend to have a party and the oilman blows out the candle it was a Dynamite, rabbit hole has a blowout and it happens the carrots went up in the air like an oil and Bugs Bunny takes one and Bugs Bunny said ("Yeah I Know I Know But Anything could happen in texas.)" the new article clarifies that it is a cartoon now so that wouldn't be a speedy now anyway. Ahad consisted of "djakdnhkan momkey", so I nuked it!

I also do note that you mention WP:VAIN in quite a few of your recent deletion comments. You have, in the edits that I've looked over, always paired it with "nn" but that makes me a little nervous. VAIN isn't a CSD on its own, and I haven't seen you using it a such but I just thought that it bore mentioning.

This and this were a bit snarky, but after trying really hard it was the worst thing I could find!

That first one there is in response to User:Beckjord who has set up account User:DrJoe and several anon IP's, always edits the same exact stuff and vandalized my userpage with the vandal account just a day ago...but it could be seen as snarky. That second one raised an eyebrow...and for good reason, a lapse in civility for sure on my part.

You could also do with edit summaries in talk ([5],[6]) but goodness I wish I could get everyone to be a bit more consistant with that.

I have a bad tendency to let edit summaries in talk lag, or be absent...bad habit I should change, but RC Patrollers (at least I don't) watch talk pages much, just articles and userpages.

I also note that while I did check on your talk page to see if anyone had mentioned these, if Tony (as the chief restorer) has already talked to you about them on IRC or something sorry to bring it up again. If I've gotten any of my facts wrong, please do let me know.

But take off that dress uncle larry, mom's home. This is with my looking harder than I have any right to. You appear to be not only doing a pretty respectable job as an admin, but continuing to contribute in article space to an amazing degree. I'd say that that new user page was well deserved. And while we're at it, I'd love someone to look over my actions and give me a kick up the bumm when I screw up. See "treasure hunt" at the top of my user page.

I'm also perfectly happy to see this deleted once you've read it, thanks for letting me rain on your parade.

brenneman(t)(c) 10:02, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

  • As far as what I need to do more of...I have been trying to get one article to featured status and am close. I am also trying to create at least stubs for every federally managed protected area in the states of Montana, Wyoming, N.Dakota, S. Dakota and Nebraska and am close there too. I'm not particularily proud of my stubs, but I do ensure they are based on the best facts I can find from sources. I need to get over and help close out the votes, as I haven't been contributing in that capacity and am not proud of being lazy in that aspect.--MONGO 10:42, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
  • No, don't do that! I think that you are doing a fantastic job. AfD can get bent, it is a blackhole of time and energy and there are actually plenty of admins (and me!) doing that work already. Look how short the backlog is. Content is what we're here for, everything else is just a sideshow. I think that almost everyone would agree that the mop and bucket take a backseat to creating content every time. Keep doing what you're doing mate! - brenneman(t)(c) 10:51, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed Aaron also got lucky with his page. Sorry you wont the only lucky guy! :) Admin coaching is an Esperanza program, (I'm too lazy to give you a link to it now, but it is under "programs") which, uh, coaches admins. You know, give them all the little tips and hints and suggestions on how to go about aquiring the mop. I asked Titoxd if I would be allowed to help out as a volunteer "coach" and I was paired up with Sango to coach ViolinGirl, a great person. We met on IRC and talked over her contribs and so on for a coupla hours. Next week we will hopefully give her some "scenarios":"What would you do in XXXXX situation?" and so on. The program is growing and we are a little short of coaches (hint hint)... I believe it does wikipedia a great service, as so many people leave over failed RFAs. Banes 13:00, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

I've returned from the unjust block

Hello Mr. MONGO. I've gotten off my lockdown from the wikipedian prison. :) I just wanted to say that regarding this edit, I don't know what you mean by "hate you" and "curse you out"... I'm not angry towards you nor do I give fault to regarding the block. I do not know what you are talking about; however what I do know is that the block was unjustified, and since I wasn;t in the wrong I was not going to aplogize. While she was (presumeably) enforcing wiki-policy, she went about it in a very incivil manner and some of her comments were in clear violation of WP:NPA. She must cease it at once! Anyway, I just wanted to appreciate you trying to be helpful while I was on "wiki-row". Regards, -MegamanZero|Talk 18:24, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, for sorting out the sockpupeets. Indeed I did not know that Nobs is banned, we worked on a number of bio-articles of Venona project and I got an impression he is a reasonable user, although with strong POV. I am sorry about him abakharev 05:15, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Questions on Rfa's

(Copied form User talk:DESiegel):

I noticed you asked a dozen candidates for adminship a question and yet, in not one case did you bother to return to these nominations to then vote support, oppose or make a comment. In some cases, these nominees even told you they had addressed your question. Is there an explantion on your part that explains this? Just trying to understand why a stressful situation needs to be made more stressful.--MONGO 04:33, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I do not see that asking a simple question "How do you feel about X" in any undue way makes an RfA more stressful. I had intended to return to those RfAs before this -- I plan to do so today. Your inquiry seems to imply that asking a question is soemhow inappropriate. Even if I never returned, the answer is on record and might be of assistance to other voters. I plan to ask more or less the same question to most RfA candidates in future. BTW, you are incorrect, in at least one case I did express an opnion after i asked that question. Howdy, MONGO. Given the escalating situation on Bigfoot, I've decided to go ahead with an RfC on Beckjord's behavior. It's located here and is not yet "live". I want to be as thorough as possible, and as you can probably guess, collecting diffs is a tedious task. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had been watching that, and I concur that this is trollish behavior, and applaud your bringing it to AN. I am not at all sure it will make any difference to the closing bureaucrat on the Rfa's, however. AGF is sometimes a double-edged sword - are not all votes counted equally, except for sockpuppets and accidental double voting? KillerChihuahua?!? 03:48, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

As I said, I agree. This may sound dreadfully shallow, but I'm looking at my Rfa and thinking, I'm not going to make it, and its a pity it is because of a misunderstanding on some comments I made on an Rfa, and a couple of trolls. And being aware of that makes me wonder - how casual are some people about their voting? I don't always vote, because I cannot read everyone's edit histories and make a clear determination of whether I think they would be a good Admin, and of course I have not interacted with everyone on Rfa. And yet, I had one person vote oppose on me and state on a talk page that they only "followed the leader" and did not even so much as look at Dunc's Rfc to look at my remarks in context, and now we have someone apparently voting oppose on everyone for no reason at all, SFAIK. And here's the really ironic part - one of my support votes was one of Bonaparte's socks, and I can see no reason for that either. It will be discounted I am sure. Bah. Delete this if you wish, I'm just a little sour right now. KillerChihuahua?!? 04:06, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Please keep an eye on this page. Hopefully, it will become what was agreed to on talk and will eventually merged to Sexual slur, as it should not just be "a list".Voice of AllT|@|ESP 05:05, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

I remember that concensus and tag-team reverting got me and other admins to stop Ted Kennedy from becomin anit-Ted Kennedy. I really want the page to redirect to Sexual slur, as do other admins. I am this close to wondering cant we just out-revert this until people give up and stop allowing for unencyclopedic list to exists. The only thing that holds me back it that the main user who want the article there seems to imply that he might not mind merging later.Voice of AllT|@|ESP 05:25, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

re elections

I either disagree with their opinions, don't think they have the experience, haven't seen much of their writings at the village pump ,or don't really know them that well. It's my opinion none of this batch are qualified to be administrators. I have set very high standards, and I believe it's allowed for me to require such high expectations of our administrators if they want my vote. I did not believe I should had to explain my votes directly, as this will be seen as a personal attack on those wishing to get the job, which in itself is a violation of wikipedia policies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Masssiveego (talkcontribs) 10:47, 14 January 2006

RFAs

Very childish. But people need to know that they are not somehow "above the law" when they become administrators. Masssiveego's time is a testament that he is not simply a vandal. BD2412 felt a need to warn beauracrats on almost every RFA that Masssiveego was "the new Boothy." That is childish. That is not his... responsibility. Same with Gustafson. freestylefrappe 14:42, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Indeed. But you cannot ignore the fact that when Gustafson made a simple query for an elaboration on Masssiveego's part, he neglected to answer. It seems clear to me Masssiveego is not voting in good faith, and nor was your vote that had nothing to do with the candidate ethier. -ZeroTalk 23:56, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
What do you think, Mr. MONGO..? -ZeroTalk 18:08, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

RE: re:Masssiveego

Thanks for the citations clarifying your concerns re: this user. I do agree that the votes they've cast could be easily viewed as disruptive -- I don't feel good about his voting pattern. But I'm an optimist when it comes to people -- I feel that if they've acquainted themselves with procedures and customs on Wikipedia, they're evidencing enough interest to indicate that they'll probably stick around, and come to contribute in a more clearly positive manner. Time will tell. For now, you've brought some discussion into it, which is probably the best thing that could be done, if anything was to be done at all.

Ok thanks for telling me how to look at an IP's list of edits on my talk page. Could you also tell me how to track a registered member's edits? I was following Crazy-eyztheonly1 a couple of days ago when they were creating a series of vandalism pages and they eventually got blocked by JoanneB for 31 hours (but not before blanking and vandalising my user page). I want to make sure they don't go back to doing the same thing when the bolck expires but I don't know how to get a list of recent edits - the same trick of typing in the user name into "search" doesn't work for a registered user. Thanks, Witty lama 01:42, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I've never used the toolbox before, it's just always been there and after a while it just sort-of dissapeared out of my mind. I too cannot find the history of the newly created vandalism pages that Crazy-eyztheonly1 made. Not only are they not in Crazy-eyztheonly1's user contributions they are not in mine either! Is it the case that when a page is deleted (both were Speedy-deleted) then the history of the edits dissapears too?? Witty lama 05:32, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi

As one of my favorite Wikipedians, and someone who has for me come to embody the concept of the neutral point of view, I wonder if you'd consider welcoming this fellow.

This user seems to be getting into a spat with someone who has asked me to intervene. I think that this latter person (it's Megamanzero) is trying his best and doing quite well, but he has asked me to put a welcome message on the page.

I'm reluctant to take that decision myself in case it's seen as some kind of attack (maybe that sounds silly but I'm trying to avoid losing this fellow--maybe that's wikiparanoia! :) ). There is no doubt in my mind, on the basis of what I've seen, that both users involved are a credit to Wikipedia. Would you look at the dispute and see if you can contribute in an appropriate manner, so as to encourage both of them in pursuing the dispute in a constructive way?

[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3ATony_Sidaway&diff=36134942&oldid=36116810 This should give you a potted history of the discussion of the dispute on my talk page.

Re: Hey, what's up?

Thank you for your advice. I assure you, however, that I am just trying to help this user understand how Wikipedia works, and I think she fell prey to the "if you write it, you own it" mentallity, which is fine with me (she's new here) , hence I openly tried discussion, and left a {{welcome}} to help her out in case she still was in doubt about wikipedia policy. Also, you and Mr. Sidaway can rest assured I won't get hot-headed over situations such as this; after all, I am insulted and attacked daily :); I am used to it by now. Your RFA vote.

Hi MONGO. I am sorry that you do not consider me to be a suitable candidate for adminship. I won't try and convince you to change your vote, but I would like you to expand for me your reasons for voting against. I will assume good faith, and consider that these are your genuine reasons for opposing; I just don't quite understand them. I do not think I have 'editcountitis maximus' - I do tend to vote against someone if they have less than 1,000 edits, but I've supported people with 1500 edits and opposed people with 10,000. Please could you let me know why you have the impression of my RfA voting being ruled by editcountitis? I would like to try and prevent this impression in the future,

Also, whilst I can be terse on AfD, I prefer to think of it as succinct, as I don't think I've ever been uncivil, which is what terse implies. Can you show me an example of the kind of terseness you take issue with, so I can try and improve my conduct in these areas in the future? Thanks, Proto t c 14:50, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Of course not, good idea, go ahead. The way he vandalized my nice image gallery in revenge for blocking him might be worth mentioning, I guess. Yes, I feel sad. Will this affect User:Beckjord's case ? Martial Law 09:54, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

It's most likely temporary...probably be gone in an hour or two...try logging out completely and then wait a few minutes before you log back in.--MONGO 10:07, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

RE: Beckjord

Mongo, just a word of caution concerning Beckjord. Here is link you might want to look over:[12] Some of links on the page are no longer available but it will give you just a hint of his personality and behavior. He will try to wear you down to "accept" his way of thinking. What you are seeing with the Bigfoot is just the tip of the iceburg with him. Just be careful and on guard with him. And be advised that he will post personal information (as you might of noticed with L. Coleman here)and gossip on his "forum board" about others quite often. Also, half of the "posters" on his "forum board(s)" are just one person, himself. MarcusTCicero 10:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm very aware of his antics...I am the primary contributor to the arbitration against him, but thanks for the reminder. I have seen that he has posted personal info about some and as far as he will ever know, I'm just a Mongo. Thanks again.--MONGO 12:12, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

ALso RE: Beckjord... I hope your comment about a last ditch effort to assume good faith was meant that Beckjord didn't have any and not a claim that I was not being fair. Letting a harsasing user spam articles because he wears us down isn't a good policy, and removing the link isn;t bad faith anymore than removing any other spam. DreamGuy 14:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

His latest personal attacks inspired my to enter new evidence at his Arb thangy though, so that was good. DreamGuy 16:41, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Re.:User: Beckjord / Running out of names

This subject has stated that he is often in a coffeeshop w/ internet connections. Can't rule out that possiblity. This may explain some of the names used by him. There is no way to run out of designations. The coffeeshop reference is on one of the Arbitration pages. Of course he could also use "Borg" designations as well, such as 40 of 60, and there are those infinite IP deignations as well. Only analyzing the situation. He indicates that there are other people in said coffeeshop who are "pro-Bigfoot". Martial Law 22:08, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Did not mean to be offensive, do apologise if I was. Just analyzing this situation. Martial Law 22:08, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Sup sup Dave!

How are you doing, my dear Dave? First of all, please let me put your mind at rest regarding my gifts to you, I know you noticed them and you thanked me for them - and as usual, you drew a smile on my face. I'm happy they cheered you up - you deserve that and much, much more. Regarding the Bigfoot article, just by the moment you wrote me your last message I was finishing a small research about the whole issue, and I had already had a look at Beckjord's website. I imagine how unpleasant this whole matter must be. I'm not an authority in cryptozoology nor in paranormal matters, so I think I'll just stay clear of the issue - but I'll definetely endorse your summary at the arbitration, count on that. I'd also suggest you to contact User:Mikedash, as he may provide you valuable help through this matter. I've heard he is a serious paranormal researcher and a professional writer, who happens to have an article on him as well, Mike Dash. From what I've read, he is a level headed investigator and a regular contributor as well, and may provide a unique view on the subject. Just my two cents, in hopes of helping a little.
I know you're just protecting me, hun, and I thank you for it - you truly are a gentleman. But don't fear, I run across guys a thousand times scarier than Beckjord in the streets every day ;) Thousand kisses! - Phædriel tell me - 01:35, 30 January 2006 (UTC

I'll contact him for you. Martial Law 04:16, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Just contacted him for you. Hope I was of assisstance to you.Martial Law 04:19, 30 January 2006 (UTC) :)

Thanks for taking the garbage off of (reverting) my talk page!--Adam (talk) 13:47, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Univ. of Maryland

It did exist in the 1970s. College park. Dr Rosen was in the Anthro Dept. Earlier, EB was a student there, in engineering. Bishonen wiped out this link:[13] Frontiers of Science Magazine. Bigfoot blood, etc. Garry

I've never heard of him (Stephen Rosen)...Kerley was a forensic scientist, not a primatologist anyway. I put this Rosen character through google every which way I can and I get nothing about him teaching, or that he even exists. I can call the university tomorrow maybe.--MONGO 09:44, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
