Etymology

Possibly Sino-Tibetan. Compare Burmese ချောက် (hkyauk, chasm, gulf); alternative or additionally, (OC *kʰleːwɢs) is k-prefixed nominal derivation of (OC *l'eːwʔ) (Schuessler, 2007).
