No campus impacts following earthquake, tsunami warning cancelled
An earthquake was felt in many areas of Northern California today at 10:44 a.m. Information from USGS indicates the quake was centered near Eureka and registered 7.0 on the Richter scale. The earthquake resulted in an automated earthquake early warning alert and tsunami warning for coastal areas including San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties, which has since been cancelled.
There are no impacts to the Stanford or Redwood City campuses and no disruptions to normal university operations.
Stanford facilities and emergency management teams closely monitor all earthquakes that could affect our campuses and continue to do so in this case. In the event of a more impactful earthquake, you would receive an AlertSU emergency notification with information and instructions.
