Deutsch: Der Trabant, genannt Trabi, wurde vom DDR-Autobauer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau, ein Unternehmen im Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau (IFA), hergestellt. Zwischen 1957 und 1991 entstanden vier Typen, von denen insgesamt 3.051.385 Stück gebaut wurden. Als häufigstes Fahrzeug der DDR gehört er mit zu den Symbolen dieser Zeit.
English: The Trabant (often called Trabi) was built by East German manufacturer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau, part of the Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau (IFA). Between 1957 and 1991 four variants with in total 3,051,385 cars have been produced. As it was the most common car of East Germany, the Trabant became one of the symbols of the GDR era.
