Vinnarbilden i Wiki Loves Monuments 2023!

Hej!

(For information in English, see Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 in Sweden or other participating countries.)

--Alicia Fagerving (WMSE) (talk) 08:01, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 - Deutschland

Hallo Radomianin,

Shouldn't you have added that it's now a FP? RodRabelo7 (talk) 01:04, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Dear user @RodRabelo7: Thank you for your message. My closing edit on the nomination was simply to verify the results counted by the FPC bot. During its next run, around 5:00 AM UTC, the bot will complete the process, marking the nomination with its final status and sorting it into the appropriate gallery and history pages. I would have only needed to step in if the bot malfunctioned, manually completing the process. Fortunately, our hardworking FPC bot runs smoothly 99% of the time, and this morning it awarded the beautiful photo the badge it deserves :) Best regards, -- Radomianin (talk) 05:55, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good morning Radomianin

Yesterday you attached my photo to the FP page, for which many thanks. But you probably forgot to place the photo with the featured images. Would you still like to do that? Many thanks in advance for this. Greetings from Friesland from Dominicus Bergsma.--Famberhorst (talk) 05:50, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Good morning Dominicus Bergsma, thank you for your message. I just checked the listing of your promoted image, it is listed on all pages. That means the gallery, the history page, the log page and the file page. All this work is done by the FPC bot itself. My review of the bot's automatic vote count is the only manual step by a user that is required for the bot to complete the next steps. The only place your photo does not appear is in the temporary sample list on the FP main page. I cannot say why this is the case, maybe the bot made a mistake. I hope I was able to give you a helpful answer with these short explanations. Best wishes from the Baltic Sea :) -- Radomianin (talk) 06:25, 27 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2023 voting is open!

2022 Picture of the Year: Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) in Nepal.

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2023 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and top 5% of most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Morocco - Serbia

If you can make QI and FP for Serbian Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 ? Like in Marocco. Would appreciate. Anyway, good POTD on Commons today, nice colors, shape. --Mile (talk) 12:23, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

✓  Done Hi @PetarM: thanks for the tip. I just created the missing categories during my break: QIs and FPs. I probably would have discovered this sooner or later during the next big review in the morning and would have acted accordingly. Thanks for the compliments on the picture of the day, I like it a lot. It was taken during the pandemic, when the cruise ships were looking for affordable berths. The ship made empty trips from Rostock to the Baltic Sea to maintain its operational status but spent most of its time at the pier, which was not open to the public. I had to take the picture through a fence. Best regards, -- Radomianin (talk) 13:15, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good work, i will take care to cover my shot into that cats. For ship i see i didnt vote, sometime i make big pause or just skip voting. --Mile (talk) 14:14, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Template:Potd/2024-10-10 (dz)

Hi, Yes, that's Dzongkha language, using the Tibetan script. I don't understand what you want me to do. I prefer exchange to be on wiki, unless there is a privacy issue. Best, Yann (talk) 09:10, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Yann: thank you for your reply. Yesterday I contacted you confidentially by email as a precaution, because at first I thought it might be a strange edit that might not have been done with good intentions. In the initial editing of the template, the filename of one of your images was used (Sikh man, Agra 10). But after taking a closer look at the edits of the colleague last night, I came to the conclusion that it was probably a mistake. So I tried to fill the empty template as correctly as possible with the intended Dzongkha language using an automatic translator. Best wishes, -- Radomianin (talk) 09:48, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Good morning Radomianin

Yesterday my photo (File:Laburnum anagyroides seedpods), 31-08-2024. (d.j.b).jpg) was promoted to FP, but the photo was not added to the pearls. Now I understand that you can do that manually. Would you like to do that for me? Thank you in advance. Kind regards from the winter time, Dominicus Bergsma.—Famberhorst.
