Summerwing Butterflies can be found in the Great Hyrule Forest and less scorching areas of the Eldin Mountains. They can be caught by sneaking up on them or purchased from Beedle at the Kara Kara Bazaar, Snowfield Stable, and Tabantha Bridge Stable. Combining one in a Cooking Pot with Monster Parts will create a Spicy Elixir, which grants Link temporary Cold Resistance.[1] They can also be used to make Red Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village.
