Hyrule Compendium Entry
248  (253Master Mode) Iron Sledgehammer
Description
This large iron sledgehammer was originally used for mining, but it works reasonably well as a weapon too.
Common Locations
Eldin Canyon
Akkala Highlands
Properties
Atk 12

Iron Sledgehammers are Goron-made Hammers that can be found in all the major populated settlements of Hyrule Kingdom.[citation needed] They are reasonably durable, and good for breaking open Ore Deposits. Despite being crafted by Goron blacksmiths, they appear to be favored most by Hylians, such as Bolson, Karson, and Hudson. Iron Sledgehammers are two-handed Weapons, meaning they can not be used in conjunction with a Shield. They were originally used for mining,[1] but the Gorons of the Southern Mine have found more use in Pickaxes.[citation needed]

Befitting their original purpose as a mining tool, the Iron Sledgehammer has a hidden property that increases its damage dealt by four times when used against the Ore Deposit atop a Stone Talus. It is also capable of immediately destroying Stone Pebblits.

Iron Sledgehammers have a metal head and a wooden pole, but they are considered metal Weapons. This means they will not burn when exposed to Fire or a Scorching Climate, the Magnesis Basic Rune can move them, and they will attract Lightning during Thunderstorms and conduct Electricity. They will also sink if they are dropped in Water.
