Hudson
Hudson is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[10][11]
Biography
Breath of the Wild
Hudson is a carpenter who works for Bolson Construction,[12] a company situated in Hateno Village in East Necluda. He can initially be found attempting to demolish Link's House under Bolson's orders.[13] When Link asks why he is doing so, Hudson explains that the building has been abandoned since its owner left town, though he does not know the reason they had for leaving.[14] Once Hudson confirms that he has answered all of Link's questions, he reveals that Hateno Village is finally recovering in the wake of the Great Calamity.[15] He wishes both himself and Link luck in the future.[16]
If Link offers to buy the House, Hudson will direct him to Bolson instead.[17] Once Link and Bolson strike a deal on the House, Hudson will take a break underneath a Tree nearby.[18] There, he mentions that Link would be a great hire for Bolson Construction, but retracts the offer upon learning that his name does not end in "-son."[19] According to Hudson, Bolson maintains this hiring requirement for team unity.[20]
After Link pays for his House, Bolson mentions that he has plans to send Hudson to Akkala.[21] He advises Link to speak to Hudson before he leaves.[22] When Link approaches Hudson, he will explains that he is leaving to work on expansions for Bolson Construction.[23] He decides to leave after Link wishes him luck, and he invites him to visit in the future.[24] This begins the "From the Ground Up" Side Quest.
Hudson can be found again on an island in Lake Akkala.[25] As Link does not recognize him, Hudson will reintroduce himself.[26] He has decided to create a village in Akkala called Tarrey Town.[27] However, Hudson is lacking in supplies to make a town.[28] Link can offer to retrieve supplies for Hudson, who is confused as to why he would help.[29]
When Link insists, Hudson will accept his offer.[30] He asks Link to bring him 10 bundles of Wood.[31] Once Link has enough bundles of Wood, he can return to give them to Hudson.[32] Hudson then complains that he is having difficulty clearing out the boulders on the island,[33] and he asks Link if he could find someone with brute physical strength, like a Goron, to assist.[34] He also requests that this individual's name ends in "-son" in accordance with Bolson Construction policy.[35]
After Link recruits Greyson and Pelison, Hudson will be pleased that they meet his requirements.[36] He also informs Link that Pelison set up a Jewelry Shop called Ore and More.[37] For his next request, he asks that Link bring him 20 bundles of Wood.[38] When Link makes this delivery, Hudson notes that his clothes have become worn, so he tells Link to find a tailor.[39] He suggests looking among the Gerudo for such an individual.[40] Like before, he also wants this person's name to end in "-son."[35]
When Rhondson arrives in Tarrey Town, Hudson thanks Link for finding her.[41] Hudson approves of her name, and since she was able to patch up his clothes, he is enamored with her.[42] She also opened an Armor Shop, the Rhondson Armor Boutique, which Hudson encourages Link to visit.[43] Next, he asks Link to bring him 30 bundles of Wood.[44] After this delivery, Hudson informs Link that they need someone to set up a General Store in town.[45] When Link reasons that they need a traveling trader, Hudson suggests looking among the Rito for someone who qualifies.[46] As has been the case before, Hudson reminds Link that this individual needs to have a name that ends in "-son."[35]
Once Fyson lands in Tarrey Town, Hudson will inform Link that he has already established the Slippery Falcon (Tarrey Town Branch).[47] He is content with Fyson's name,[48] and he tells Link to check out the General Store.[49] Before people can start moving in, Hudson needs 50 bundles of Wood so he can make more houses.[50]
When Link brings the Wood to Hudson, he admits that he has something personal to tell him.[51] Link expresses his concern, so Hudson clarifies that he has gotten engaged to Rhondson.[52][53] He asks Link to find someone priest-like for his wedding,[54] explaining that such an individual might be found among the Zora.[55] He also wants this person's name to end in "-son."[35]
After Kapson arrives in Tarrey Town, Hudson will approve of both his occupation and his name.[56] Before the wedding can begin, Hudson requests that Link invite Bolson and Karson to attend the ceremony.[57] Once they are in attendance, Hudson and Rhondson will be ready to move forward with their wedding.[58]
As Kapson begins the ceremony, he asks Hudson if he will take Rhondson to be his wife,[59] which he accepts.[60] He asks the same thing of Rhondson, with the added stipulation that they name their children in accordance with the Bolson Construction naming policies.[61] When Rhondson objects that these are not traditional vows,[62] Hudson will be confused.[63] He begs Rhondson to think of their future descendants,[64] and so she agrees.[65] Kapson then declares the couple to be married.[66]
After the ceremony, Hudson will thank Link for attending.[67] He proclaims that Link has helped make Tarrey Town into a real town, and so he gives him three Diamonds as a token of his appreciation.[68] He explains that they were found while clearing away the rocks,[69] and he and Rhondson have no use for them.[70]
If Link approaches Hudson later, he will recognize him.[71] He explains that he and Rhondson are very happy to be in Tarrey Town.[72] However, he asks Link if there is something important he should be doing instead.[73] If Link confirms that there is, Hudson encourages him to get to it, as there are many other people in the world that need his help.[74] If Link denies needing to be anywhere else, Hudson invites him to stay as long as he would like.[75]

[Who are you?] I'm a carpenter for Bolson Construction. Name's Hudson.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑ 13.0 13.1
Hey. [What are you doing?] I'm knocking this place down.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Why?] 'Cause no one is living here. [Why?] The owner of this house took off. [Why?] Don't know. Maybe skipped town without paying the bills?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Oh.] Answered all your questions? [Yes.] Good. A lot has happened since the Great Calamity. Tough to keep track of it all. [Right.] For the first time since then, we're finally getting back on our feet.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Good.] So best of luck to both of us. [Yeah.] Yeah.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[I'll buy this place!] Can't help you. Ask the boss.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[What are you doing?] Taking a break. By the way...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[What?] Are you gonna buy that house? [Yeah.] You're pretty studly, aren't you? [Uh...come again?] You'd be a great hire for our company... What's your name? [I'm Link.] Oh... Well, too bad. Can't hire you. [Why?] 'Cause your name doesn't end in "son."
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Son?] The boss, Bolson, has a strict hiring rule: need a name ending in "son." No exceptions. That's too bad.] "Builds team unity," he says. Anyway... You got some stuff to do, right? Should get going, then.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
So...next-job time, baby! What'd I have lined up again? Oh, yeah, that's what's next. I was going to send Hudson up Akkala way to clear some land!
— Bolson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Yup... Business expansion, y'know. I'll probably have him head out soon. If you want to say anything to Hudson, better catch him before he leaves.
— Bolson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Why?] I've been transferred. Mighta heard, but Bolson Construction is planning to expand big-time.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Good luck!] OK then. Well... No time like the present, right? I should be getting on my way... If you'd like, you should come to the Akkala region and say hello. Well... Take care of yourself.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Hey. We meet again.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Who are you again?] I'm one of the Bolson Construction contractors. The name's Hudson.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Since I've been transferred here, I've decided to build a village from scratch. Every village needs a name, though. I think I'll call it...Tarrey Town.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I built a house to store the village supplies in, but there just isn't enough... [Enough what?] Enough anything... People... Money... Stuff...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[I'll help out!] But why? There's nothing in it for you.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[I don't mind!] You're a lifesaver...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Well...I suppose to get started, we'll need houses for people to live in. We can't invite them until we have homes. Do you think you can bring me 10 bundles of wood? If you bring me that, I can combine it with what I've already got and get started on new houses.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[I brought them!] Excellent! Can I have them? [Sure!] You're a lifesaver...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
These boulders are driving me nuts. I want to move them out of the way so we can develop the land underneath.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
It'd really help me if you could find someone with enough brute physical strength to bust them apart. [Physical strength?] Yeah, if we're talking about brute physical strength, and we are, a Goron would be my first choice...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑ 35.0 35.1 35.2 35.3
Oh, and one last wrinkle... Yeah, in accordance with the official Bolson Construction policy, that someone's name must end in "son."
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Hey. You sent some Gorons back here. That's perfect. The strength of a Goron is undeniable. Those boulders don't stand a chance against them... And with names like Greyson and Pelison, they'll fit right in.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Also, Pelison started selling the ore found within the boulders. You should go say hello again.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
So before more people can move here, we need homes for them to live in. Can you bring me 20 bundles of wood?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Working such long hours every day really wears on my clothes. Could you look for someone who's got a gift for tailoring for me?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Tailoring?] If we're talking about tailoring... there could be someone among the Gerudo who's good at that.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Hey. You found someone from the Gerudo. Thank you.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
She was able to patch every last hole in my work clothes before I could blink. She's pretty...er, amazing! And since her name is Rhondson, I have no objections.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I hear she's decided to continue putting her skills to use by opening a clothing shop. You should stop by and say hello.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
So before people can move here, we need more homes for them to live in. Can you bring me 30 bundles of wood?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
It's finally starting to look like a town around here. Which is exactly why we need to set up some distribution. I'd like to get a general store up and running, but there's no one with the connections and qualifications to run it. Do you think you could keep an eye out for someone who knows about distribution and can run a general store?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[So a traveling trader?] Oh, that's a good thought... Rito can fly around, so they should be able to retrieve and deliver supplies.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
You managed to find a Rito and bring him back here. Thank you. He wasted no time getting a general store up and running—apparently his family runs one too.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
And with a name like Fyson, he'll fit right in!
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
He's selling things that he's picked up while flying around. You should really go check out the store.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
So before we can call more people here, we need even more homes for them. Can you bring me 50 bundles of wood?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I actually wanted to talk about something a little personal...
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[What's wrong?] Oh, not that kind of personal. Actually, I got engaged.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[To who?] To Rhondson.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Anyway, we want to have a little ceremony to celebrate, but we need someone priest-like to officiate. Could you look for someone priest-like for us?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Priest-like, huh...] If we're looking for a people devout enough to have a priest-like person...I'd suggest the Zora.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
You found a Zora? Thank you...really. He and I talked earlier, and he said that he literally was a priest before he retired. You can't get more priest-like than that. And his name is Kapson, so I have no objections there. It really is amazing that you were able to find someone priest-like who also had an acceptable name.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Of course, we'll have to invite guests in order to hold a ceremony... [Guests?] Well, I'm talking about my boss, Bolson, and my subordinate, Karson. [I see.] However, I've got to prepare for the ceremony, so my hands are full... Could you invite them for me?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
You extended my invitation for me. Thank you. Now then, Karson and the boss Bolson are waiting for things to begin... Shall we start the ceremony?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Silence please, everyone. We shall now begin. We are gathered here today to join Hudson and Rhondson in matrimony. Hudson... Before the eyes of these witnesses and before those of Goddess Hylia... Do you take Rhondson to be your wife, to have and to hold, in good times and in bad?
— Kapson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I do.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
And Rhondson... Before the eyes of these witnesses and before those of Goddess Hylia... Do you take Hudson as your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health? And do you also vow to...name your children in accordance with the Bolson construction naming guidelines?
— Kapson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Wait a moment... Those vows are not traditional by anyone's standards!
— Rhondson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
What makes you say that?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Think of future generations!
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
... Well, those are the guidelines... I do.
— Rhondson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
And so, dearly beloved, please help me in greeting this newly married couple. I wish this new couple nothing but the utmost happiness as they set out on this journey of marital bliss!
— Kapson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Thank you for attending the ceremony. ...*sniff*
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
And now Tarrey Town looks like a real town at long last. This was all possible because of you. I can't thank you enough for all the hard work you did. All right, this is for you.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
These were found inside the boulders we smashed when we were clearing the land.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Rhondson and I have no use for them. You can take them.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Hey. It's you.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Rhondson and I are very happy to live here now.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
So... Isn't there something important you should be doing?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[Yes.] Then get to it. You've traveled the world helping folks, but there's more that need helping. You don't have the luxury of tarrying here.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[No.] I see... In that case, stay as long as you like, OK?
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[That sounds tough.] That's right. It's tough.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Oh.
— Hudson (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
[You know Hudson?] Hudson? Who's that? He's a carpenter? I'm not quite sure...
— Nobo (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I've been hearing clanging and banging by Lake Akkala. That's south of here. Why don't you go check it out?
— Nobo (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
If you're looking for Hudson the carpenter... He said something about building a village from the ground up. Then he headed off toward Lake Akkala. Lake Akkala is to the east of here. If you're curious, you should head over there.
