Hook Guys are enemies appearing in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. They are similar to Spear Guys found in previous games of the Yoshi's Island series, in that they carry a crochet hook that functions as a spear, hence the name. Most Hook Guys are encountered walking from side to side on the ground, holding the hook in front of them. Others are tied to balloons and float above the ground, pointing the hook downwards. The balloons will pop if Yoshi hits them with a yarn ball or if he simply walks underneath the Hook Guys, causing the enemies to drop to the ground and stick their hook into it. This leaves the Hook Guy suspended above the ground and unable to move.

Yoshi will be damaged if he runs into a Hook Guy from the front or back sides. In addition, Hook Guys floating with balloons can pop any bouncy bubbles underneath them as they fall down. If Yoshi throws a yarn ball onto the enemy's hook, it will get stuck on its tip and render it harmless and unable to pop bubbles. To defeat a Hook Guy, Yoshi can jump on it or turn it into a yarn ball by eating it from behind, then ingesting it or spitting it out.
