Results of CWI's scientific research can be found in scientific articles and books, but we also develop software and standards. Please take a look!

Results of CWI's scientific research can be found in scientific articles and books (stored in CWI's institute repository). We have a rich history of cutting edge research. Some highlights from the past are the first Dutch computer (ARRA), Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm (a globally used algorithm for route navigation), registration of the .nl top level domain, the first open European Internet connection, and the development of Python - one of the most widely used programming languages in the world.

Part of CWI’s knowledge transfer is achieved by developing software, and making this available to researchers, industry and society. A number of our software tools is aimed to be used by a wide audience and is intended to become the reference software in its area.

CWI has contributed to new industry standards in multimedia, internet security, database management systems and the development of programming languages, but also in post-quantum security.
