Megatron's Konda

Megatron's Konda is an exotic sword used by the Decepticon leader in the live-action continuity family during the quest to find Quintessa's staff. It can be considered to be his counterpart to Optimus Prime's Sword of Judgment.

Fiction

The Last Knight film

Megatron brandished his konda while negotiating having Decepticon prisoners released with the TRF, slamming it into the ground to intimidate the TRF's lawyers when they denied releasing Dreadbot.

Megatron briefly wielded the sword when hunting Cade Yeager with his recently paroled soldiers, drawing it to defend himself against the Dinobots before ordering a hasty retreat.

Megatron used the weapon during the battle within the Ignition chamber on Cybertron, but lost it when he was caught in a time bubble while swinging it at Hound. Optimus Prime cut off Megatron's arm and kicked him out of the chamber shortly before it went into free fall, denying the tyrant an opportunity to retrieve his weapon.

Premier Edition Leader Class Megatron naturally includes his konda sword, which can be mounted on his back or stored on top of his jet mode via 5mm port.

The sword was redecoed, along with the rest of the toy, as a promotional campaign item, which used gold chrome. The Movie the Best version is casted from slightly lighter gray plastic.

• Megatron (Voyager Class, 2017)

Like the Leader Class figure above, the Voyager Class version of Megatron includes his sword which can be stored on his back or his jet roof. The transformation scheme also allows the sword to store under his nose cone in jet mode. Unfortunately, the transformation scheme also has the sword store in a very impractical location on his back.

Since both the Leader and Voyager Class versions of the sword use a 5mm handle, either version can use either sword.

Some stock photos depict Megatron's sword handle as being an unpainted red, however the final release and later stock photos have it the same color as the rest of the sword. The stock renders also depict the sword's bladed section and several body details being painted silver.

Prime 1 Studio

The Prime 1 Studio statue of Megatron based on his appearance in The Last Knight includes a konda sword permanently fixed to to left hand.

Notes

• The konda, also known as the ikakalaka, is an African sword first created in the 1800's, making the decision to arm Megatron with one while basing his body off medieval knight armor anachronistic. While ikakalaka is arguably the more famous name for the sword, we've decided to refer to it as a konda for the sake of brevity.
• Megatron was originally intended to transform into a Cybertronian dragon in The Last Knight, with his konda forming the tip of his tail.
