The name or term "Lockdown" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Lockdown (disambiguation).
Lockdown is a Decepticon or unaffiliated mercenary from the Movie continuity family.

In 2007, we were all pretty sure there would be a fourth live-action Transformers movie with Lockdown as the main villain.

Even the Decepticons are afraid of this guy, because once Lockdown has been hired to track down a subject, nothing stops him from completing his transaction short of total deactivation! Answering only to his enigmatic "Creators", Lockdown holds himself above the Autobot/Decepticon war and sees both sides as squabbling children that he has to rein in personally. He doesn't think much higher of other civilized species across the galaxy (particularly humans), though isn't above working with them if it suits him.

Lockdown is a bounty hunter at heart, always fulfilling the contracts and missions he is assigned to as long as he is paid. He doesn't really care what he has to do in order to fulfill his contract, eager to destroy entire planets if it's necessary. His respect for other species is not too great either, sometimes mumbling about his own clients and speaking to them sarcastically. Lockdown's been known to loot weaponry from the foes he kills, so his armory is constantly changing![1]

These days, a long scar runs down his face. There are many rumors about where it came from, some saying it was a run-in with Megatron, but nobody knows for sure...[1]

I have a hook now, happy?

Lockdown was tasked by the mysterious Creators to capture all their rogue "knights." He spent centuries on the task, using a commandeered and converted ship that had once belonged to the knights themselves as a mobile prison for containing and transporting his various captives. Eventually, he succeeded in capturing all of the knights save one—Optimus Prime. To acquire this last prize, Lockdown travelled to Earth and joined forces with the human organization Cemetery Wind, who were in the process of hunting and killing any surviving Cybertronians who had survived the battle of Chicago. In exchange for the safe apprehension of Prime, he promised Harold Attinger a Seed, a device that could cyberform a massive area of land. Several years after the Battle of Chicago, Lockdown and Cemetery Wind located Optimus Prime in Mexico City and attacked; though Lockdown was able to grievously wound Prime, the human operatives failed to contain Prime, and he escaped and went into hiding.

Continuing to work with Cemetery Wind, Lockdown aided in the pursuit of Ratchet, lurking in nearby waters and disabling the Autobot medic from afar with his head-cannon after the humans had crippled him. When Ratchet refused to divulge Optimus's location, Lockdown ripped his spark from his chest. Soon after, he met with Attinger on the hull of his ship to discuss their arrangements, where the bounty hunter expressed his disgust with humans and mused that none of the species he had worked with in his travels had really understood their place in the universe.

An anonymous tip from a panicked civilian allowed Cemetery Wind to locate Optimus in at the home of Cade Yeager in Texas. Lockdown pulled up to a nearby baseball field and transformed, deploying his hook to clamber up a nearby grain silo. When Optimus revealed himself and began fighting back against Cemetery Wind's human operatives, Lockdown bombarded the Yeager homestead with a flurry of missiles, destroying it. Lockdown later pursued Prime across the highway, and eventually engaged Prime in battle on the roof of an abandoned factory. Prime managed to momentarily disable Lockdown by tossing him into a crane cable, allowing the Autobot leader to escape once again with his human allies; Lockdown freed himself in time to try and stop them with a grenade, but the only victim of its blast was Lucas Flannery.

GIVE ME YOUR- Err.. face-gun!

Later, after the Autobots stormed KSI, Optimus was battling Galvatron when Lockdown ambushed Prime and took him and Tessa Yeager captive. After moving his ship over Chicago to deliver the promised Seed to Cemetery Wind, Lockdown locked Prime up with the other Knights that he had captured, explaining to the defeated Autobot the origins of his ship and why the Creators wanted him. Unbeknownst to Lockdown, the other Autobots and humans had already boarded his ship in order to free Prime and Tessa; when Crosshairs fired the ship's anchors in order to prevent it from taking off, the bounty hunter merely assumed one of his prisoners had broken free, and dispatched a pack of Steeljaws to deal with the problem. The beasts detached the anchors, and Lockdown took off into space, unaware that the Autobots had rescued Prime and stolen the section of his ship containing his prize trophy case.

Half the hunter he used to be.

Discovering the truth part-way into his journey, the furious Lockdown ordered a return to Earth. Arriving in the midst of a battle between the Autobots and KSI drones in Hong Kong, Lockdown utilized a magnetic weapon on his ship to wreak havoc on the city, but it was soon destroyed by Optimus. Lockdown descended to Hong Kong to battle him in person, leading to a vicious fight that saw Lockdown take the upper hand after Optimus diverted his attention to save Cade Yeager from Attinger. Lockdown impaled Prime on his own sword, mocking him for his choice to save the human, but before the bounty hunter could finish him, Bumblebee, Cade, Tessa and Shane Dyson all teamed up against him. Lockdown was able to dispatch Bumblebee, and then turned on Cade, but failed to notice that Shane and Tessa had freed Optimus. Optimus slew Lockdown by brutally bisecting him with his sword, and destroyed what remained of his body when he used one of Lockdown's grenades to finish off the remaining KSI drones.

And we thought Lockdown always fulfilled his contracts. Age of Extinction

Back to the basics.

One of Lockdown's latest targets was Ratchet, whose destruction he will be paid handsomely for. Once he has accepted a contract, nothing short of total deactivation can stop him. While his services have never come cheap, he considers himself to be the best there is at what he does. Having never lost a target, Lockdown had no intentions for the hunt for Ratchet to be the first time. Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Lockdown

Another Autobot target Lockdown has run afoul of was Arcee.[2]

A long time ago, Lockdown trained Axor in the arts of bounty-hunting. Though this motivated the younger hunter to rebuild himself to better resemble his teacher, Lockdown would deny it if asked. Axor views his mentor as his closest comrade, which Lockdown has been willing to let him believe.[3]

Lockdown does not necessarily care about the Decepticon cause in the slightest. He only bears the Decepticon insignia because his closest comrade Megatron is the one paying him for capturing the targets he hunts in energon chips.[2] Though Lockdown has worked alone in the past, he never failed to bring in an Autobot he was assigned to capture. Speed Stars Lockdown

As one of the most feared bounty hunters in the universe, Lockdown captures and collects every prize he tracks in his massive prison ship. Few of his targets have managed to outmaneuver him, and even fewer have escaped his jails. Now that he has come to Earth, Lockdown is setting his sights on the Autobots. Lockdown is bad at missions that involve cyber because he only has one hand.
Science will not win this war!Says the transforming giant robot, Cyber Missions #3

Lockdown was cruising the city streets when he was encountered by Ratchet, who had been alerted to Lockdown's presence by Optimus Prime due to their "violent history". For blocks, Lockdown fled Ratchet silently as the Autobot fired his EMP blaster until he transformed into robot mode and expressed his frustration. Finally, when Ratchet's EMP blaster failed him, Lockdown transformed as well. He mocked Ratchet for never being able to best him, knocked him around, and when the Autobot had had enough, the Decepticon bounty hunter stole Ratchet's EMP blaster as a memento. As Lockdown sped away, he wondered if he could fix Ratchet's faulty weapon. Cyber Missions #3

Later, Lockdown managed to evade Diego Garcia's security measures and sneak into Autobot Headquarters undetected. After cutting power to the facilities, he sneaked up behind Sideswipe in the target practice range. Ratchet's EMP blaster, attached to Lockdown's arm, was now in proper working order, and the bounty hunter vowed to also take Sideswipe's new sidearms. Lockdown was shocked when the EMP blaster was shot off his arm and out of his reach by Ratchet. Wounded, the Decepticon fled. Unfortunately for Lockdown, he retreated to the medical bay, where Ratchet's surgical tools restrained and sedated him. Cyber Missions #7

Later, Lockdown and Barricade confronted Ironhide. Looking to steal one of Ironhide's weapons, Lockdown took a missile instead, which blew up in his face. The explosion damaged his optics, so he fled. Cyber Missions #11

In the grim darkness of the recent past, there is only war!

Five years before the Battle of Chicago,[4] Lockdown was part of a three-Con team with Drift and Knucklehead on Cybertron. While Drift wanted to take an Autobot outpost with minimal bloodshed, Lockdown thought this was sissy hippy crap and they should just bomb everything (even though that would mean having no outpost to capture); when they sneaked instead, he disobeyed orders and decided to execute prisoners out of hand. Drift stopped him, giving a gleeful Lockdown the chance to claim the guy was a traitor and kill him off. Knucklehead and Drift sent him down into a molten moat, swearing revenge on them both. Of course, he couldn't actually kill them while Megatron was still in charge, or the big boss would be unhappy. Adrift in Space and Time

As well as being a Decepticon, Lockdown had a profitable sideline as a bounty hunter and hired killer. He claimed the bounty on the Coseem crime gang's boss.Locked In!

With a new body, he went to Earth soon after and ended up captured by NEST under unknown circumstances... only to become part of Bludgeon's 2010 jailbreak! He joined Bludgeon's splinter cell of Decepticons and took great pleasure in talking out all his "hurting" on Smokescreen. Inside Out! When the Autobots tracked down the Decepticon base in Russia, Lockdown was ordered to prepare an ambush for them. He loyally served Bludgeon in this until Megatron arrived, Divided Loyalties and then he not-so-loyally ran away. A Short, Sharp Lesson!

Near the end of the Battle of Chicago, Lockdown (now back in his old body!) immediately murdered Knucklehead as soon as Megatron died. Drift, now an Autobot, found the corpse on the moon and knew the hunter had become more powerful than before. Adrift in Space and Time

Lockdown soon took control of the remaining Decepticon forces on Earth but kept himself out of the limelight. He oversaw an ambush in Indonesia: three Decepticons would kill a few hundred humans, getting the predictable Autobots to give chase and be ambushed at an old Dutch fort. He watched as Crosshairs didn't rush in head on and wiped out his team, but the Autobots remained unaware he was around so he was alright! Thousand Island Fight

He later left Earth to make some more cash bounty-hunting but was tricked into capturing Sojex, a Coseem hitwoman who took control of his ship and turned his own defences on him. He cut through them all and when attacked by scraplets, he quietly dealt with them while using holograms to make Sojex think he was dead. After her defeat, Lockdown was contacted by new employers with a job on Earth.Locked In!

Is that you, Lockdown?

Lockdown, or another partly-green robot with a hook in place of his right hand, was among the Transformers captured by the Initiative and mind-controlled into doing their bidding. After reporting to Starscream that Skystalker had found that some Autobots were approaching their base in Greece, he moved out to attack them and cut down Breacher. How to Ride your Dinobot cartoon

Lockdown found himself cornered by the duo of Slug and Drift, but to the bounty hunter's luck, Drift was an inexperienced Dinobot rider indeed. Lockdown impatiently waited for Drift to get his act together and attack him already, but to Lockdown's amusement, Drift fried himself with Slug's weaponry. However, it turned out to be a bad day for all, since Lockdown got zapped too.

One must wonder why Lockdown didn't flee while Drift spent a long time trying to figure out Slug's weaponry... How to Fight

I used to be very well paid, I want to be well paid again!

Some time during his stay on Earth, Lockdown tracked down the Dark Spark as it made its way toward the planet. The Autobots realized the destruction the relic could cause and moved to retrieve it, only to be stopped by the bounty hunter. Intercepting the Autobots, Lockdown grabbed the Dark Spark first and took it for himself. Despite Optimus Prime's pleas, Lockdown was more interested in the profit he could make from its power. As Prime attempted to tackle Lockdown and take the artifact, Lockdown activated its power and froze the Autobots in place long enough to escape.

Later, the Autobots attempted to infiltrate Lockdown's base but were unsuccessful. Drift was captured while Bumblebee escaped, but only long enough to find an alternate path to retrieve his colleague. Lockdown sent a titan after them to prevent their escape, but the Autobots were able to slip out and regroup.

Finally breaking into Lockdown's base, they discovered he had been using the power of the Dark Spark to create a time bridge to go back in time and prevent the Autobot's victory at the Battle of Chicago. In doing so, he would revive the war and with it his main source of income. Optimus once again pleaded to rethink, citing the destruction that Earth would have to endure if the war were to continue, but as usual Lockdown didn't care. Optimus once again tried to tackle Lockdown, who activated the Dark Spark's power again to stop him in mid-air. In true super villain fashion, Lockdown monologued his plan rather than do something about Prime, who was able to break free of the Dark Spark's power. The two fought to a standstill until Drift was able to move in and cut the Dark Spark from Lockdown's chest. Fumbling to catch it, Lockdown instead knocked it into Drift's hand long enough for Optimus to activate the Matrix of Leadership and blast it into the time bridge. Lockdown took the opportunity to escape, swearing that "this isn't the end". Rise of the Dark Spark (console)

Toys

Revenge of the Fallen

  • Lockdown (Deluxe Class, 2010)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: RD-26
  • Accessories: Engine
  • Known designers: Takashi Kunihiro (TakaraTomy)
Lockdown's design strongly homages his Transformers Animated counterpart, but with a completely different transformation. Once again, Lockdown transforms into an amalgam of a 1980s Corvette and a 1960s Cougar, with lots of spikes and a cow-catcher on his bumper. The toy's Mech Alive feature rotates cylinders inside his thighs as his lower legs rotate, and pneumatic cylinders extend as his Capture Hook is deployed. Unfortunately, the Capture Hook is made of extremely soft plastic, which may cause it to deform easily in robot mode or droop and rub against the floor when rolling him in vehicle mode.
Lockdown may have the most articulated neck ever for a Transformer, having three ball joints and a swivel joint. Craziness.
Similar to his Animated counterpart, Lockdown's arm-mounted hot rod engine weapon can be removed and can be replaced by Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Ratchet's weapon. Likewise, Ratchet can store Lockdown's engine on his roof; it cannot, however, attach to his arm. Interestingly, the plug for Lockdown's engine is the same general shape as the plug for Animated Lockdown's EMP blaster/engine, but smaller; as such, it isn't compatible with Animated Lockdown, or with Animated Ratchet or Ironhide, for that matter.
Much like his Animated incarnation, he is much taller than other Deluxes, being almost Voyager-sized or larger depending on how his digitigrade leg joints are arranged.
This mold was retooled to make 2010 Axor as well as Timelines Circuit. This toy was repurposed as Generation 1 Lockdown.

Up the Ante I See?
  • Series: 1
  • Number: B008
    • Fist strength: 445
    • Blaster strength: 275
    • Sword strength: 895
Part of the third wave of Bot Shots, Lockdown is a teeny little "road warrior"-ish car with a spring-loaded automatic transformation to robot mode triggered when his front bumper is pressed. He has a "spinner" in his chest that shows his three attack types and power levels.
Lockdown's main car body, arms and legs are also used by Bot Shots Barricade, Bumblebee, Mirage, Prowl, and Topspin.

So I said "Megatron, I don't care about any team color scheme coherence, I'm staying with the black."
  • Decepticon Fire Assault Team (Multi-pack, 2013)
  • Series: 2
  • Number: T020
    • Fist strength: 350
    • Blaster strength: 837
    • Sword strength: 423
A redeco of the original Lockdown mold now with yellow and red highlights à la Animated Blazing Lockdown, this version of Lockdown was available in a five-pack with similar redecoes of Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream, and Barricade.

Finally a real gun-face, but no hook? (Hasbro Version Pictured)
(thumbnail)
I'm a Japanese release and I still don't have a hook. What is wrong with you humans? (TakaraTomy Version Pictured)
  • Lockdown (Deluxe Class, 2014)
Lockdown transforms into an officially licensed (in fact, the only licensed toy of Lockdown released in the Age of Extinction line) Lamborghini Aventador. He comes with a friction-fire sniper rifle that can either be held in his hands using 5 mm posts, or attached to his head with a smaller peg to simulate his "gun-face" from the Age of Extinction film. Two additional pegs are molded into the gun for vehicle mode attachment. His transformation shares similarities to Deluxe Roadbuster's.
Takara Tomy's Movie Advanced Series version of the figure replaces much of the robot mode's grey plastic with black, intending to create a more movie-accurate appearance.
Note that the stock photos provided here are mis-transformed. The Hasbro version has the right side of the chest collapsed too far into the abdomen, and both versions should have their upper shoulders folded further down in order to properly tab into place. Unlike previous toys of the character, this figure is actually smaller than most other Deluxes from the same line due to the size of his vehicle mode.
Lockdown was later extensively retooled as The Last Knight Hot Rod.

Robots in Disguise (2014)

(thumbnail)
Having an adequate Leader-sized Lockdown comes at the cost of having a messed up Lambo.
  • Lockdown (Flip & Change, 2014)
Part of the second wave of Flip & Change assortment, Lockdown is a simplified toy that can auto-transform from vehicle to robot by pulling out the arms first and then flipping the figure over itself. He features articulation on his arms and features 5mm compatible hands.
Lockdown shares his transformation scheme with his fellow Flip & Changers Bumblebee and Drift. He was later retooled into Hot Rod.

(thumbnail)
Designed-to-be-somewhat-broken-in-1-step Lockdown isn't he? (Hasbro version pictured)
(thumbnail)
(TakaraTomy version pictured)
  • Lockdown (One-Step Changers, 2014)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: LA09
  • Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro)
Similar to an Activators toy, Lockdown can transform into a robot by pressing a button on his vehicle mode. This version of him does not have a licensed Lamborghini Aventador car mode (No licensing information is printed on his packaging, nor does the car have a Lamborghini symbol). Oddly enough, Lockdown's entire back is sculpted with great detail, despite this not being visible without taking the toy apart. His only articulation is the forearms, which can swing up and down.
After transforming into robot mode, Lockdown can be transformed back by pushing the top of the car down, but be careful when setting him down, as he might pop back into robot mode if you aren't careful.
The Japanese release of Lockdown does away with the blue paint on his robot mode and car rear and features black and metallic blue paint detail on his robot parts for slight extra screen accuracy.
Lockdown was later retooled into Hot Rod.

AOE-One-Step-Collection.jpg
  • Transformers: Age of Extinction Collection (One-Step Changer six-pack, 2014)
The "Transformers: Age of Extinction Collection" set includes an unchanged One-Step Changer Lockdown, packed with an equally unchanged Drift, Grimlock, Bumblebee, Slug & the included One-Step Silver Knight Optimus Prime toy.

Gun-shoulders.
  • Lockdown (Power Battlers, 2014)
A roughly Deluxe sized version of Lockdown, he transforms into the same unlicensed Lamborghini Aventador lookalike as his other Robots In Disguise toy. Squeezing his legs triggers the firing gimmick on his back. Promotional photographs of Power Battlers Lockdown featured paint applications on his left thigh/vehicle front bumper, but the final product left the thigh/bumper unpainted due to being molded in unpaintable plastic.

Kre-O

All of the Age of Extinction Kre-O sets were exclusive to Toys"R"Us in the US... though some did eventually filter to closeout stores in mid-2015.

Lockdown's monocled helmet winks while grinning. Unsee that.
  • Lockdown Air Raid (2014)
  • Set number: A6956
  • Pieces: 203
  • Kreons: Hound, Lockdown, Sideswipe
  • Accessories: Scoped pistol
The "Lockdown Air Raid" box set is centered around a large build of Lockdown's ship, and of course features its pilot in Kreon form. This version of Lockdown has a bared-teeth snarl and a new-mold helmet with a face-concealing flip-up visor attachment. While other visors will work with Lockdown's helmet, Lockdown's visor pretty much doesn't work with any other helmets.
The set also comes with two other Kreons and a buildable Dinobot raptor.

(thumbnail)
He got rock-em-sock-em'd.
  • Lockdown (Custom Kreon, 2014)
  • Set number: A7838
  • Pieces: 30
  • Accessories: Buildable parts rack, buildable "head-gun", pistol, spare body parts, missile-backpack
Part of the first wave of Age of Extinction-branded Custom Kreons, this version of Lockdown has a neutral expression on his face, a darker hip-piece, and slightly different chest deco than the "Lockdown Air Raid" version. He comes with a buildable parts rack on which to hang/store his many many extra pieces. Unlike other Custom Kreons, he only has a single (opaque) helmet, but comes with chromed and translucent versions of his flip-up visor, as well as an extra clear-plastic torso and legs, plus the "missile" backpack. He also has a pair of extra arms (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens), a buildable "head gun" (though it cannot be pushed all the way down on the neck-peg as shown in his instructions) and a Klingon blaster rifle originally from the Star Trek Kre-O sets, enhanced with a small "technic" peg.

KreO-Toy LockdownGrimUnleashed.jpg
  • Grimlock Unleashed (2014)
Available only in the "Grimlock Unleashed" set, this version of Lockdown has a smirk and a scarred left eye, another slightly-different chest tampograph (featuring more yellow piping in the center-chest area), and dark-gray hands and hips cast in sparkly plastic. He also comes with the new-style Transformer blaster rifle.
This set popped up at Toys"R"Us a few short weeks after the initial product without any advance warning... and retailed for a mere $25, despite the size of the set.

Construct-Bots

ConstructBots AoE dino-rider Lockdown.jpg
  • Lockdown (Dinobot Rider, 2014)
Lockdown is part of the first wave of the Dinobot Riders, a group of smaller toys that is just the right size to ride the other large Dinobots included in the toyline. He also comes with a small weapon based on his "Sniper-Mode" face-gun, which can be wielded by his pair of C-clip hands, attach to his vehicle mode, or even on his head if you remove the head.
Despite what the stock photo shows you, his head cannot turn left or right.

(thumbnail)
"Mr. Hammond, after careful consideration I've decided not to endorse your park."
  • Lockdown (Dinobot Warrior, 2014)
Part of Wave 1 of the Dinobot Warriors assortment, Lockdown transforms from robot to car. He is packaged with his Dino partner, Hangnail, who can become armor for his larger partner. Unlike the Dinobot Riders version of Construct-Bots Lockdown, this figure's head depicts his face when covered by his battle mask.

Q-Transformers

(thumbnail)
May be the cutest bounty hunter ever!
  • ID number: QT-03
Q-Transformers Lockdown is a super deformed toy that transforms from a cutesified super-deformed Lamborghini Aventador to robot. He comes with a code for unlocking Lockdown as a playable character in the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns game, though his in-game appearance is based on his Revenge of the Fallen design instead of this toy.

(thumbnail)
Lockdown's Turian disguise left a lot to be desired.
  • ID number: QT-25, QTF-03
Lockdown (Yoroshikuu!) matches the character's appearance in the Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns cartoon, which is in turn based on his Revenge of the Fallen design but with a vehicle mode inspired by the Lamborghini Aventador. In fact, he matches up with the Lockdown design unlocked in the Q-Transformers game by the previous toy. The "Yoroshikuu!" added to his name means, roughly, "Best regards!" (よろしくぅ!), though in Lockdown's case it's meant in a sarcastic manner used by stereotypical Japanese delinquents. This line is something of a catchphrase of Lockdown's in the Q-Transformers cartoon.
This toy was re-released with a new ID number as part of the second Q-Transformers series.

  • Q-Transformers Protagonists 3-Figure Set (2016-01-30)
  • ID number: QTFS-01
The second Lockdown toy was also sold in a three-pack with fellow cartoon main characters Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. They come with a cardboard backdrop to be displayed that depicts a typical service area of a Japanese expressway, much like the real locations the characters stand around in in the cartoon.
Although usually sold in Japanese markets, some department stores in Asia had sold the set as well.

The Last Knight

TF-TLK-Tiny-Turbo-Changers-Lockdown.jpg
  • Lockdown (Tiny Turbo Changer, 2017)
  • Series: 1
  • Bag Code: C
Released in Series 1 of Tiny Turbo Changers, Lockdown changes from robot to an unlicensed approximation of his Lamborghini Aventador vehicle mode. His hands are compatible with Cyberverse weapons and other small accessories. Note that he is slightly mis-transformed in his stock photography (seen to the right)–his arms/legs can be extended downward giving him a proper stature.

Movie The Best

(thumbnail)
Meet the Spy.
  • ID number: MB-15
  • Accessories: Hook, sword
Movie The Best Lockdown is a redeco/retool of the Age of Extinction Deluxe Class figure, featuring a new masked head, and instead of his face-gun, he includes a pair of new handheld accessories: a hook (finally!) and the sword from his final showdown with Optimus. Despite not including the face-gun accessory of the original tooling of the mold, his head features a slot for one to be inserted. The instructions still depicts him having his original head.

No, I'm still a Deluxe.
  • Lockdown (Deluxe Class, 2018)
  • Movie: Age of Extinction
  • Hasbro ID number: 11
  • TakaraTomy ID number: SS-10
  • TakaraTomy release date: July 28, 2018
  • Accessories: Hook, arm-blade, "Enemy Ship Infiltration" backdrop
Studio Series Lockdown is a Deluxe Class mold that transforms into a licensed Lamborghini Aventador and back, offering a much more screen-accurate depiction of his on-screen stature and proportions than previous molds. Lockdown comes with a new blade/blaster weapon and an articulated hook claw, though his face-gun is omitted (if you're an enterprising fan, you can jury-rig a Fan mode using the face-gun of the original AOE mold). He also includes a cardboard backdrop depicting a hangar within the Knight Ship.
In an undocumented feature, Lockdown's faux-chest is on a hinge, allowing his chest to not be quite as flat as it comes in-package. Exercise caution while swiveling the upper elbow joint as it was molded in translucent plastic: It can snap off if not done carefully. The cylindrical tabs on the rear of his alt mode can also snap off due to the way it attaches to his feet.
This mold was later redecoed and retooled for a Shadow Raider.

Robot Powered Machines

It's a lockdown, baby, you drive me crazy.
  • Lockdown (2010)
  • Series: Metal Heroes
  • Number: 08
Robot Powered Machines Mini-Vehicle Lockdown is a small, non-transforming, die-cast rendition of his vehicle mode. His robot mode is sculpted underneath the vehicle, and his wheels use through-axle construction that lets the toy zip around at high speeds on smooth surfaces. He has more painted details than the more widely-released Speed Stars version below.
RPM Lockdown appears to have been released only in some European markets; known samples are in a small polybag with a cardboard header in five languages. The header has Lockdown's name, but no art, cross-sell, bio, or other character information. The precise details of this seemingly-nonstandard release are unknown. While only "Stunticon" Lockdown was officially listed during the run of the RPM series (on the back of the Asian market release of RPM "Stunticon" Bumblebee), images of both versions were revealed by a downloadable poster on the official Transformers website of Turkey.

  • Lockdown (2010)
  • Series: Stunticon
  • Number: 03
"Stunticon" Lockdown was to have been a redeco of "Metal Heroes" Lockdown in black, purple and red. While "Stunticon" Lockdown was officially listed during the run of the RPM series (on the back of the Asian market release of RPM "Stunticon" Bumblebee), the only image of it was revealed by a downloadable poster on the official Transformers website of Turkey.

  • Lockdown (2010)
  • Series: Metal Heroes
  • Number: 08
Speed Stars Lockdown is a small, non-transforming, die-cast rendition of his vehicle mode. His robot mode is sculpted underneath the vehicle, and his wheels use through-axle construction that lets the toy zip around at high speeds on smooth surfaces.
When shown at BotCon 2010, Lockdown had a completely different color scheme, being predominantly gold with blue flames on his hood, green hubcaps, a red engine, and a gray bumper and spoiler. Though this version of "Metal Heroes" Lockdown was also depicted on a downloadable poster on the Speed Stars website, the toy was eventually released using Lockdown's proper colors.
This mold was also used to make Speed Stars Stunticon Series Axel.

  • Series: Stunticon
  • Number: 03
"Stunticon" Lockdown is a redeco of his previous Speed Stars toy in black, purple, and red–or was back when the line was Robot Powered Machines (see above). Though Lockdown is listed on the back of Speed Stars Stunticon Bumblebee's packaging, a Lockdown redeco named Axor was shown as part of the Stunticon series at BotCon 2010 (who was in turn named as Axel on the Speed Stars website). Given there were a few wholesale deco changes between RPMs and Speed Stars within series, it's possible that Lockdown's place in the Stunticons was taken by Axor/Axel... but considering that ALL of these items seem to be canceled, it's impossible to say for certain.

Notes

Rotf Lockdown Concept.jpg

"Check out my new weapon. My weapon of choice."
  • The head on Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Lockdown's instruction lineart is actually that of his retool, Axor. The head can be seen in much clearer detail on page 8 of the San Diego Comic-Con Hasbro Design Sketchbook, volume 2.
  • Hasbro's Revenge of the Fallen website describes both Arcee and Ratchet as Lockdown's enemy on their respective pages, mirroring the relationship between their Animated counterparts.
  • In reference to his Animated counterpart, Lockdown's Age of Extinction incarnation has the ability to transform his hands into various weapons, such as the famous hook, a blaster, a spark extractor device, and even his chainsaw-hand. He can also turn his head into a sniper rifle-esque cannon, lending credence to the fact that he's probably been building on himself like his original incarnation. Some concept art also showed him characteristically taking and equipping Ratchet's saw after he had terminated the Autobot.
  • According to his Battle Bio, Lockdown possesses a "Supercharger" which he uses to store kinetic energy. The energy stored in this way can later be used to increase his speed and strength, which in turn allows him to move in for the kill with a burst of power.[5] The Battle Bio also states that Lockdown is equipped with a "skeletal spinal cord" that provides him with agility far beyond that of the average Cybertronian.
  • Early concept art for Lockdown indicates that at one point he would have hewed closer to his original Animated design; not only would he have sported a green-and-black color scheme and a tattered "poncho",[6] he would also have transformed into a weatherbeaten muscle car with an exposed engine block.[7] Presumably, his alternate mode and design were altered so that Lamborghini could advertise their new sports cars.
  • Later concept art by Josh Nizzi would depict Lockdown with a large sniper rifle and a trophy belt decorated with severed fingers and ears from past kills adorning his hip. According to Nizzi, Lockdown was planned to be a "Christopher Walken type", hence the concept art's resemblance to the actor.[8]
  • Two proposed Fun Publications BotCon exclusives were a redeco of Revenge of the Fallen Lockdown into "Marlboor Wheeljack" (conceived prior to Exhaust receiving his name from Takara) and a Shattered Glass version of Stranglehold using the Axor tooling (and would have had a mustache!).[9]
  • Aside from his unaligned status, there is another reason for the lack of an insignia on Lockdown's vehicle mode: the prop car used to portray him was personally owned by Mr. Bay himself.
