Ada Twyford Simpson was born in 1862.2 She was the daughter of Reverend Henry Trail Simpson and Annie Knox Campbell Murray.1,2 She married Lt.-Col. Frederick Henry Maitland, 13th Earl of Lauderdale, son of Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland and Ann Deering Williams, in 1883.1 She died on 14 September 1931.1

Colonel Hon. Richard Maitland was born on 10 February 1724.1 He was the son of Charles Maitland, 6th Earl of Lauderdale and Lady Elizabeth Ogilvy.1 He married Mary McAdam on 11 July 1772 at New York, U.S.A.G.1 He died on 13 July 1772 at age 48.1
He was commissioned in 1743, in the service of the British Army.1 He fought in the Capture of Quebec in 1759.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1759.1 He was Deputy Adjutant-General of the Quebec in 1760.1 He was Deputy Adjutant-General of the North America in 1764.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1772.1

Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. was born on 21 March 1728.2 He was the son of Charles Maitland, 6th Earl of Lauderdale and Lady Elizabeth Ogilvy.1 He married Penelope Madan, daughter of Colonel Martin Madan and Judith Cowper, on 6 July 1754.2 He died on 14 February 1820 at age 91.2
