     Admiral Sir William Houston Shaw-Stewart was born on 7 September 1822.2 He was the son of Admiral Sir Houston Shaw-Stewart and Martha Miller.2 He married, firstly, Catherine Elizabeth Coote, daughter of Eyre Coote and Elizabeth Rosetta Massy-Dawson, on 20 February 1850.2 He married, secondly, Blanche Caroline Stewart, daughter of Admiral Hon. Keith Stewart and Mary Caroline Fitzroy, on 11 January 1872.2 He died on 13 November 1902 at age 80.2
     He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)2 He was Controller of the Navy between 1881 and 1885.2 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Devonport.2

     Martha Miller was the daughter of Sir William Miller of Glenlee, 2nd Bt. and Grizel Chalmers.2 She married Admiral Sir Houston Shaw-Stewart, son of Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart of Greenock and Blackhall, 5th Bt. and Catharine Maxwell, in February 1818.1 She died on 17 April 1870.1
     From February 1818, her married name became Shaw-Stewart.

Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart of Greenock and Blackhall, 5th Bt.1

     Sir Michael Shaw-Stewart of Greenock and Blackhall, 5th Bt. was born on 10 February 1766.1 He was the son of Houston Stewart-Nicolson and Margaret Porterfield.2 He married Catharine Maxwell, daughter of Sir William Maxwell of Springkell, 3rd Bt. and Margaret Stewart, on 24 September 1787.1 He died on 25 August 1825 at age 59.2
     He was given the name of Michael Stewart-Nicolson at birth.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Stewart, of Greenock and Blackhall, co. Renfrew [N.S., 1667] on 7 August 1812.1 On 7 September 1812 his name was legally changed to Michael Shaw-Stewart on inheriting the Greenock estate.2

     Sir William Miller of Glenlee, 2nd Bt. was born on 12 August 1755.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Miller of Glenlee, 1st Bt. and Margaret Murdoch.2 He married Grizel Chalmers, daughter of George Chalmers, on 5 November 1777.1 He died on 9 May 1846 at age 90.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Miller, of Glenlee, Kirkcudbrightshire [G.B., 1788] on 27 September 1789.1 He was styled as Lord Glenlee [Scottish Law Lord].1 He held the office of Lord of Session.1
