Samuel John Best, 7th Baron Wynford was born on 24 June 1874.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. George Best, 5th Baron Wynford and Edith Anne Marsh.2 He married, firstly, Evelyn Mary Aylmer May, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Edward Sinclair May and Charlotte Dorothea William Stirling, on 26 August 1914.1 He married, secondly, Marguerite Jane Pratt, daughter of Charles Pratt, on 5 June 1930.2 He died on 29 August 1943 at age 69.2
He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Wynford, of Wynford Eagle, Dorset [U.K., 1829] on 15 December 1940.1
