Captain Hon. James Boyle was born on 11 March 1880.2 He was the son of David Boyle, 7th Earl of Glasgow and Dorothea Elizabeth Thomasina Hunter Blair.1,2 He married Katherine Isabel Salvin Bowlby, daughter of Edward Salvin Bowlby and Elizabeth Vans Agnew, on 15 September 1908.1 He died on 18 October 1914 at age 34, killed in action.1

Katherine Isabel Salvin Bowlby was born on 17 March 1885.1 She was the daughter of Edward Salvin Bowlby and Elizabeth Vans Agnew.1 She married, firstly, Captain Hon. James Boyle, son of David Boyle, 7th Earl of Glasgow and Dorothea Elizabeth Thomasina Hunter Blair, on 15 September 1908.1 She married, secondly, Air Marshal Hugh Montague Trenchard, 1st Viscount Trenchard, son of Henry Montague Trenchard and Georgina Louisa Catherine Tower Skene, on 17 June 1920.1 She died on 5 March 1960 at age 74.1
From 15 September 1908, her married name became Boyle. From 17 June 1920, her married name became Trenchard. After her marriage, Katherine Isabel Salvin Bowlby was styled as Baroness Trenchard on 23 January 1930. After her marriage, Katherine Isabel Salvin Bowlby was styled as Viscountess Trenchard on 31 January 1936. She was Chief Commandant, Auxiliary Territorial Service between 1938 and 1941.2
