     John Mohun Carew was born on 8 July 1921.1 He was the son of Colonel Peter FitzWilliam Carew and Joyce Margaret Fortescue.2 He married Barbara Joan Stewart Roberts, daughter of Major Arthur Neil Stewart Roberts, on 1 December 1950.1 He died on 3 September 1980 at age 59 at Bracknell, Berkshire, England.1,3
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Indian Army.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Devonshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1943 and 1944, in Burma with the 3rd Gurkha Rifles, and was wounded.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He fought in the Malayan Campaign between 1948 and 1949.1

     Barbara Joan Stewart Roberts was the daughter of Major Arthur Neil Stewart Roberts.2 She married, firstly, Major Richard Henry Baird Shakespear before 1950.1 She married, secondly, John Mohun Carew, son of Colonel Peter FitzWilliam Carew and Joyce Margaret Fortescue, on 1 December 1950.1 She died in 1993.1
     From before 1950, her married name became Shakespear.1 Her married name became Carew.

She was the daughter of Hugh Fortescue, 3rd Earl Fortescue and Georgiana Augusta Charlotte Caroline Dawson-Damer.1 She married Michael Edward Hicks-Beach, 1st Earl Saint Aldwyn, son of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, 8th Bt. and Harriett Vittoria Stratton, on 3 September 1874 at South Molton, Devon, England.1,2 She died on 19 March 1940.1
     Her married name became Hicks-Beach. After her marriage, Lady Lucy Catherine Fortescue was styled as Viscountess Saint Aldwyn on 6 January 1906. After her marriage, Lady Lucy Catherine Fortescue was styled as Countess Saint Aldwyn on 22 February 1915.
