George Archibald, 1st Baron Archibald was born on 21 July 1898.1 He was the son of George W. Archibald.1 He married, firstly, Dorothy Holroyd Edwards, daughter of George Henry Edwards, in February 1926.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Edith Mary Law, daughter of Rt. Hon. Andrew Bonar Law and Annie Pitcairn Robley, on 15 November 1961.1 He died on 25 February 1975 at age 76.1
He was educated at St. George's Road Elementary School, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Allan Glen's High School, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He held the office of Member of the Glasgow City Council between 1920 and 1928.2 He was Deputy Regional Commission for the Midlands between 1941 and 1942.2 He was Director of Films Division, British Information Services, New York between 1942 and 1944.2 He was Controller of Ministry of Information between 1944 and 1945.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)3 He was created 1st Baron Archibald, of Woodside, in the City of Glasgow [U.K.] on 12 July 1949.1 He was Captain, Yeoman of the Guard in 1951.2
