William Robert Hannay was the son of Sir Samuel Hannay of Mochrum and of Kirkdale, 3rd Bt. and Mary Mead.1 He died in 1818, without issue.1

Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale was born on 3 March 1810.1 He was the son of Captain Thomas Rainsford and Jane Hannay.2 He married Rhoda Johnston, daughter of Oliver Charles Johnston, on 26 November 1840.1 He died on 21 January 1884 at age 73.1
