Alice Sophia Wintle was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Edmund Wintle.2 She married Lt.-Col. Alexander Leslie Scott Burrowes, son of Reverend Thomas Robert Fiennes Forth Burrowes and Amelia Wintle, on 24 October 1876.1 She died on 9 May 1928.1

Brigadier Alec Burrowes was born on 16 February 1884.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Leslie Scott Burrowes and Alice Sophia Wintle.2 He married, firstly, Marie Ernestine Lucie MacCormac, daughter of John MacCormac, on 23 January 1907.1 He and Marie Ernestine Lucie MacCormac were divorced in 1922.1 He married, secondly, Victoria Marguerite Bosanquet, daughter of Edward Bernard Bosanquet, on 28 June 1922.2 He died on 15 November 1956 at age 72.2
He was educated at Portsmouth Grammar School, Portsmouth, Hampshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He was with the Briisht Military Mission to General Denikin.1 He was British Military Attache to the Hungarian Peace Delegation in 1920.1 He gained the rank of Able Seaman in the Royal Navy.1 He was with CRA, Hong Kong between 1935 and 1939.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was GSO(I) of the Coast Defense) and in charge of the 'Dover Project' between 1939 and 1941.1 He retired from the military in 1941, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the Royal Garrison Artillery.1
