Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy, 3rd Earl of Cranbrook was born on 18 December 1870.1 He was the son of John Stewart Gathorne-Hardy, 2nd Earl of Cranbrook and Cicely Marguerite Wilhelmina Ridgway.1 He married Lady Dorothy Montagu Boyle, daughter of David Boyle, 7th Earl of Glasgow and Dorothea Elizabeth Thomasina Hunter Blair, on 25 April 1899 at Holy Trinity, Sloane Street, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 23 December 1915 at age 45.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, The Buffs.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Medway of Hemsted Park, co. David Boyle, 7th Earl of Glasgow was born on 31 May 1833.2 He was the son of Patrick Boyle and Mary Frances Elphinstone-Dalrymple.1 He married Dorothea Elizabeth Thomasina Hunter Blair, daughter of Sir Edward Hunter Blair of Blairquhan and Dunskey, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Wauchope, on 23 July 1873.2 He died on 13 December 1915 at age 82.2
