     Sir Richard Broun, 8th Bt. was born on 22 April 1801 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.1 He was baptised on 23 April 1801 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 He died on 10 December 1858 at age 57 at Sphinx Lodge, Chelsea, London, EnglandG, unmarried.1
     He claimed the right to a knighthood prior to succeeding to his father's baronetcy, but the Lord Chancellor refused to present him to the Queen for this purpose.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 30 November 1844.1 In 1849 he was the projector of 'the London Necropolis' at Woking.1

     Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. was born on 21 July 1804 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1,2,3 He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.1 He was baptised on 23 July 1804 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.3 He married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of John Smith, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 He died on 10 June 1882 at age 77 at 7 Irving Street, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 He was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1
     He was a practising solicitor at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 10 December 1858.1

     Elizabeth Smith was the daughter of John Smith.1 She married Sir William Broun, 9th Bt., son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 She died on 19 August 1899 at Glenshee, Cambridge Park, Twickenham, London, EnglandG.1 She was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1
     From 18 July 1843, her married name became Broun.1

     From 12 April 1871, her married name became Broun.1
