Reverend Richard Broun was baptised on 2 August 1729 at Stitchel, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of James Broun and Alison Brodie.1 He married Robina MacBride, daughter of Colonel Hugh MacBride, on 25 September 1765 at Dalry, Ayrshire, Scotland.1,2 He died on 13 December 1781 at age 52.1
He was a minister at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1 He was the minister at Bute, ScotlandG.1 He was the minister at Kingarth, ScotlandG.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] in 1776, de jure, but never assumed the title.1

Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. was born on 12 March 1768.1 He was the son of Reverend Richard Broun and Robina MacBride.1 He married, firstly, Marion Henderson, daughter of Robert Henderson and Janet Carruthers, on 31 July 1798.1 He married, secondly, Janet Watson, daughter of Robert Watson, on 29 April 1835.1 He was also reported to have been married on 30 July 1798 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 He died on 30 November 1844 at age 76 at Moffat, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1
He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Broun of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 13 December 1781, assuming the title on 19 March 1826 when his claim succeeded.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 30th Foot, serving ten years in the West Indies during the Caribbean insurrection.1 In 1799 he raised a troop called the Lockerbie Volunteers.1 He lived at Coulston Park, Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.1

Marion Henderson was baptised on 14 April 1768 at Dalton, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Robert Henderson and Janet Carruthers.1 She married Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt., son of Reverend Richard Broun and Robina MacBride, on 31 July 1798.1 She was also reported to have been married on 30 July 1798 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2 She died on 20 August 1825 at age 57, suddenly.1
