Victoria Josefa Sackville-West1

     Victoria Josefa Sackville-West was born illegitimately on 23 September 1862 at Paris, France.1 She was the daughter of Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville of Knole and Josefa Durán.2 She married Lionel Edward Sackville-West, 3rd Baron Sackville of Knole, son of Hon. William Edward Sackville-West and Georgina Dodwell, on 17 June 1890.1 She died on 30 January 1936 at age 73.1
     She acted as her father's hostess in Washington.1 After her marriage, Victoria Josefa Sackville-West was styled as Baroness Sackville of Knole on 3 September 1908.

     Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville of Knole was born on 19 July 1827.2 He was the son of George John Sackville-West, 5th Earl De La Warr and Elizabeth Sackville-West, Baroness Buckhurst of Buckhurst.3 He died on 3 September 1908 at age 81, without legitimate issue.2
     He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1847 and 1888.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.2 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Argentina between 1872 and 1878.2 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Spain between 1878 and 1881.2 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the U.S.A. between 1881 and 1888.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1885.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Kent.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1888.2 He succeeded as the 1st Baron Sackville of Knole, co. Kent [U.K., 1876] on 1 October 1888.2

     Josefa Durán was born in 1830 at Malaga, Spain.1,2 She was the daughter of Pedro Durán and Catalina Ortega.1 She married Juan Antonio de Oliva.1 She died on 11 March 1871 at Arachon, France.1,2
     Josefa Durán also went by the nick-name of Pepita.1 She was a famous dancer.1

     Maximiliano Leon Jose Manuele Enrique Bernardino Sackville-West was born illegitimately on 20 May 1858 at Buena Vista, Granada, Spain.1,3 He was the son of Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville of Knole and Josefa Durán.1 He married Mary Ann Ellen Norton, daughter of Philip Norton and Elsjie Elizabeth Otto.2 He died in 1936 at Pietermartizburg, Natal, South Africa.2
     Documentation was drawn up stating him to be son of ‘Pepita' by Juan Antonio de la Oliva, her official husband, hence he was prevented from claiming the Barony of Sackville of Knole on his biological father's death.4 He lived at Natal, South AfricaG.2

     Lydie Elenore Sackville-West was born illegitimately on 11 November 1866 at Villa Pepa, Arcachon, France.2 She was the daughter of Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville of Knole and Josefa Durán.2 She married Gabriel Salanson on 16 June 1888 at Paris, FranceG.1 She and Gabriel Salanson were divorced.3
     She was also known as Flora.2 From 1888, her married name became Salanson.2

     Gabriel Salanson was born on 21 February 1860 at Villiers-Cotterets, Aisne, Picardie, FranceG.2 He married Lydie Elenore Sackville-West, daughter of Lionel Sackville-West, 2nd Baron Sackville of Knole and Josefa Durán, on 16 June 1888 at Paris, FranceG.2 He and Lydie Elenore Sackville-West were divorced.3 He died in 1920.2
