Typhoon Noru, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Karding, was an intense tropical cyclone that affected Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines — where it caused widespread agricultural damages. The sixteenth named storm and eighth typhoon, and third super typhoon of the 2022 Pacific typhoon season, Noru originated from a disturbance over the Philippine Sea, slowly tracking eastward until its development into a tropical depression, where it began to move westward. Noru underwent rapid intensification as it approached Luzon, with 10-minute maximum sustained winds intensifying by 85 km/h (50 mph) in the span of 24 hours. Right before its first landfall, Noru reached its peak intensity with maximum sustained winds of up to 175 km/h (110 mph) and as a PAGASA super typhoon. Noru made its
