Welcome

[change source]

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. ~ curtaintoad ~~ talk ~ 23:47, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome. Indeed I did wander over here from English Wikipedia. I am a bit trepidacious (see what I mean?) that my writing style does not easily lend itself to this page, but will gladly revert vandalism if I run across it. If you want help with articles about the music recording industry and music in general from the years 1878 to about 1965, let me know, and I'll be glad to help. All the best, 78.26 (talk) 17:45, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aretino Records

[change source]

Thanks for this new article. It was interesting to see that there were records with the bigger hole.

You made a good start in simplifying the text from the enwiki article. It still needs some more work, though, so I have put a {{complex}} tag on it. You can find some information about writing simple language at Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages.

Not done. Yes, it needs some work. There were some concepts I couldn't figure out how to further simplify. Perhaps they should be removed entirely from the article, as anyone who truly wants to understand more about the subject can go to English Wikipedia?

The other thing you need to do is give credit to enwiki as the source of the article. This is a legal requirement, and you need to do it even if you wrote both articles. You can read about how to do that at Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:45, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks for the review and suggestions! 78.26 (talk) 18:04, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can try to help simplify if you'd like? Osiris (talk) 03:29, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would be delighted. Feel free to ask questions. Probably several concepts, such as the detailed catalog number explanations, which in general is only of interest to advanced collectors, may not be appropriate for Simple? One thing that should probably be explained is that all Aretino records are scarce in relative terms, (I've been collecting these for 30 years, but out of approximately 20,000 records in my collection, I own about 20 Aretino discs), but some types are much more rare than others. I just don't have a source for this statement. Many thanks! 78.26 (talk) 14:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've had a go at it. I didn't want to alter the depth of detail, I'll leave those decisions to you. I tried to do it in stages to make it easier to see the differences. But the average reading grade level is 7.8 down from 9.2.[1] I never edit to appease those kind of formulas, but it's sometimes helpful as a rough guide. I'm glad we finally have someone editing in this field! Osiris (talk) 02:04, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I love it! Thank you. While reading through, I caught a typo I made, which had given the sentence the opposite meaning of what I intended. Thanks for your help. If you like the topic, I'll try to write a few more articles about interesting historical record companies. If you know of one that would be of particular use/interest, let me know. All the best, 78.26 (talk) 03:23, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :) Osiris (talk) 03:36, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey 78. You asked me in May 2014 to look at your changes to Gramophone record. Sorry I took so long to get to it, but I've finally completed your request! :) Osiris (talk) 10:35, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please breifly describe what Lsthevictim sent to you? We have an long-term abuser here that sends emails and I believe this might be him. IWI (chat) 01:16, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: That editor complained that they were the victim of WP:BLP violations, and that no administrators would assist despite ample evidence. I couldn't figure out what they were specifically referencing. Is that helpful? 78.26 (talk) 01:28, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
