The valley of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines is called the Val d'Argent. It has five municipalities: Aubure, Lièpvre, Rombach-le-Franc, and Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines.

History
[change | change source]Eddie Slovik, the only U.S. soldier of either World War I or World War II to be executed for desertion, suffered the fate by firing squad near the town on 31 January 1945.[1]
