The Principality of Asturias (Spanish: Principado de Asturias, Asturian: Principáu d'Asturies) is a autonomous community in the kingdom of Spain. Its area was the old Kingdom of Asturias in the Middle Ages. It is on the Spanish north coast facing the Cantabrian Sea. It is formed by only one province, Asturias, which is equal to the autonomous community. The capital of the autonomous community is Oviedo. Gijón is the biggest city. There is an airport in Asturias, from where you can fly to a few places in Spain and in Europe. The region has borders with Galicia (Lugo province), Castile and León (León province) and Cantabria.
