"Numit Kappa " (Old Manipuri: ꯅꯨꯃꯤꯠ ꯀꯥꯞꯄ, romanized: nu-mit-kaap-pa, lit. '"shooting down the sun"'[1]) is an ancient Manipuri epic poetry, based on the saga of the adventure of a hero, who shot one of the two Suns, shining in the sky, to create the night.[2][3][4] It has a strong basis on the Meitei mythology and religion of Ancient Manipur.[5]
