Mittweida (IPA: [mɪtˈvaɪda]) is a town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is the capital of the Landkreis Mittweida.

The town was started in the 13th century, and is now one of the biggest textile producing centres in Saxony.

Mittweida University has about 5000 students. It was started in the late 19th century. Among its students were August Horch, Walter Bruch, Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen, and Gerhard Neumann.

During World War II, a subcamp of Flossenburg concentration camp was located here.[2]
