Resignation
act of giving up or quitting an office or position
A resignation is when someone quits or gives up the job they hold. Many times, especially in politics, a person who is resigning will give a resignation speech explaining why they resigned and what their plans are for the future.
A simular term for monarch, such as king or queen, is abdication.
