The Mission of the City Attorney's Office is to advise, defend, and protect the City and enforce its laws in a timely and just manner.
The City Attorney’s Office provides legal representation to the City government. In particular, the City Attorney and Assistant City Attorneys advise the Governing Body during its meetings, draft ordinances, and contracts, determine the legality of proposed ordinances, and represent the City in legal matters.
In addition, the City Attorney's Office includes the Office of the Records Custodians (Inspection of Public Records Request - IPRA) and the Office of Legislation and Policy Innovation.
