Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards

Message from the Director

Welcome to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS). It is my honor to serve as Director of OSCCS at Cornell University. The OSCCS helps Cornell students understand, honor, and uphold our Student Code of Conduct (Code) which establishes behavioral expectations of all Cornellians.

College is a time of exploration, experimentation, and self-discovery. It's natural to encounter challenges and have missteps along the way. The OSCCS team believes that missteps are just opportunities to gain new skills and grow as a human. We help you do this through a restorative and educational student conduct process as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct Procedures (Procedures).

Cornell’s student conduct process focuses on principles of reflection and learning. The process incorporates restorative practices to build a culture of community and healing rather than a community that centers around judgment and punishment. Our goal is to support you in navigating situations that might not meet our community's expectations. We believe students  should not be defined by their mistakes but rather by their willingness to learn. To learn more about the student conduct process, along with reviewing the Code and Procedures, I encourage you to check out our Frequently Asked Questions and Resources page.

Please feel free to reach out to us to learn more about how our office can be a resource to you!

Sincerely,Christina Liang
